Such a drama queen. If she really gives up now then she isn't cut out to be a hero anyway. A proper hero accepts that mistakes are inevitable and learns from them, to avoid repeating those mistakes. Noone is perfect, including heroes.

I hope AJ reminds her of this, or better yet Nightmare Rarity, since she was the target of the young one's attacks.

Even if she is a hero. She still is just a kid. To face the huge problem like this. It possible for her to want to run away too. And her young mind is what make her so high in emotion. Make her like a drama queen. Because it normallt for young people to not know how to handle their emotion yet.

It's not wrong to run away from a problem. Some people in real world even do it too. This is just to show how realistic she is. Even some adult hero of marvel or DC run away from being hero sometime too. When the burden and hero's responsibility is heavy for them to handle and they want to rest for a while.

Just because they are hero it doesn't mean they don't have a weak heart. They aren't perfect being but a simple person that can make a mistake, can fear and can cry too.

But maybe stay away from problem for a while might be best. Because if you face the problem head on without any space of time to rest, prepare and collect mind might make the matter worst. Who know, stop doing what you did for a while might let you see the world and problem more clearly. She will learn soon that run away isn't a better way to fix a problem and she will come back to face it again when ready.

But now. Just let her run away for a while. She still just a kid that await to growth. So much she need to learn. A character that still under develope...

That really hit her hard.

Now the question is... will the two mares speak softly to her to convince her not to resign, or spank her (and cause her HP to drop slightly!) to knock some sense into her?

Can we actually knock some sense into a kid by violence them? Never know this "sence" thing can be teach that easy. Now I know why some mother and teacher love to hit their child/student with stick all the time...

Yipe. My apologies. I didn't to raise a storm.

A lot of it is down to intent. When someone is lost in self-pity, for example, sometimes it might take a sharp word or a smack to snap them out of it so they can then be receptive for reason. It's when the caregiver is sadistic, angry or punishing out of petty revenge (it happens way too often) that it becomes a major problem. But what do I know?

Well. One of my watcher said something like this for this matter.

"Physical punishment is only to be used with the child doesn't feel at all bad about the action. Little AJ already feels bad about the situation, so any form of punishment would have to be non-violent since the need to drive home the point that what she did was wrong is absent."

I stand corrected.  I did jump to conclusions a bit without thinking first (which parents sometimes do as well).  I'm sorry.

My second post down below was meant to be a reply as well, but ended up not being so for some reason, but yeah, in this case, Little AJ doesn't need physical punishment (if she was still the blind and uncompromising Lawful Good paladin that she was a few pages ago, I might think differently!), and either that or even a sharp telling off will only break her further.  She needs love here.

maybe confiscate her sword and gauntlets instead?

one little nit pick on grammar from me though.
the sentence "until someone was nearly died" should be
"until someone was nearly dead" or "until someone nearly died"
take your pick..
loving the comic though keep it up :)

Cannon Rarity? No, not really... your nightmare Rarity seems pretty cool though, much more mature.

Little AJ needs to reassess her life in being a superhero, or she needs to go back into the apple orchard and pick apples. She also needs a hoof to the head from her mom.

Welcome to the life of being a superhero. It is a paradox of actions and inactions, for in doing the job one can only act when evil does its misdeeds and criminal actions - not before. One can not simple see evil and then try to vanquish it because it is there, especially when it has done nothing to anyone yet. Until it is witnessed that it has acted in some negative way against others, it is to be left a lone, given its own space and be respected.

Simply Put - Little AJ can not be the Thought Police and arrest people for just thinking about doing a crime. She can not go against evil because it is evil. She can only go against evil if evil has done something bad to her or someone else. That is the lesson she needs to learn.

This could actually be a good thing for L'il AJ.  From what we have seen, she is almost obsessed with training, fighting and becoming a hero.  By taking a break from it, she'll have the opportunity to try other things, figure out more of the world she lives in, and maybe grow to understand herself a little better as well.  Maybe she will even develop some actual friendships with other ponies instead of only working with them when she needs to defeat a monster.  If she decides she wants to continued being a hero, she will be better at it for having grown and learned.  And if not, she will find something that she enjoys and actually likes.

With a youth like this... at least keep the weapons out of her hand for a while... at least to be safe.  It's punishment enough to know one nearly died and is suffering mentally but be sure she doesn't hurt herself while she is a mess is a good idea.

And there's the other side of the coin. Quitting is almost just as bad. Quitting means allowing the corrupted creatures to do what they do unopposed, and quite possibly either kill those who can't defeat them, or the creatures are killed by those who can't purify them. The best way to proceed isn't to quit, but to learn from your mistakes, and find a better way. In this case, start paying more attention, maybe start working with a partner that can help fight, or at least try to help stun or otherwise debilitate the threat to make purifying them easier.

Strikes me that the key thing for Minijack, should she continue her Harmony Bearer(C) side gig, is more caution re: edge cases such as Nightmarity (and apparently her mom). Second opinions from less heated teammates seem especially crucial.

Anyhow, that veneer of dogmatic zealotry's been cracked to my satisfaction. Time to wrap this one up with a group hug & see how the other next-genners have been keeping busy.

Granted, right now I would call her despair legitimate. She is absolutely broken and hardness will solve nothing in this instance. I would, however, not let her resign immediately because she's emotionally compromised, and would let her dwell on it for a few days, with support from AJ and Rarity and reminding her of the mindless creatures she has purified. Nah, I agree... no violence is needed here, just love.

P.S. Little AJ is not being a drama queen. I think most young, Lawful Good idealists will have this reaction, and forcing them to bottle up their emotions is never a good thing.

I was premature in my initial reaction.

Sorry kid. That's not how the Hero thing works. You don't just quit being the Hero. You can run. You hide. But the mantle will always find you. And the people bearing it to you will drag you kicking and screaming back with their begging, pleading, and tears. There are only two ways out. You are either forced from it or you die.

Self-flagellation doesn't win you any points, Lil AJ.  You need to be a better hero, not give up being one.
