I actually own that comic: 'Gladstones's Terrible Secret'. Honestly? I LOVE it. It's so ridiculous, but it also shows a shallowness to his character that I want to keep. Let Donald, who considers himself the unluckiest duck in Duckburg, to learn and grow from his mistakes-- where Gladstone is forever stuck in this limbo of luck where he can never lose or truly gain anything of true importance. It makes him a tragic character in a way.
Though, I do know that overseas they do a better job at giving him character development, and those are fun to read as well.
