Yeah, i've done the same thing myself [or witnessed other artists I know do it]. It is kind of a shitty feeling if it doesn't turn out the way you hoped, but in my specific case I do it because the alternative is getting frustrated and never finishing the picture at all [as I almost did a few days ago]
