My friend @ritsukaxan loves the toony style, and he's also a heavy gamer, both of new and classic games. And like a good gamer, he hates those who consider themselves so without having what it takes to be so! And he calls them 'casuals'. Usually those are portable Nintendo console ones, and since he seems to be playing with a DS, I thought this would be a good idea xD

I don't draw any lines, it's what hardcore gamers do, and I'm not one, it just strikes me funny xD For me there's no such thing as a 'gamer' more than 'people who plays lots and difficult videogames and do it well and they're competitive', etc, etc, vs 'ok, today I'm gonna play this for 5 minutes, then I won't play again until 2 weeks or tomorrow for a while, and not very complicated games'.

Well, I am in the middle. I play a lot almost everyday but I am not an competitive gamer. I play for the enjoyment of the game not the difficulty, most games I play would be considerate easy. I leave the hard ones for the one with good eye/hand coordination and people that doesn't have bills to paid.

Nintendo dose not seem to think of "on the go players" as 'casuals' seeing their next new system the Nintendo Switch is aimed at on the go players. For the most part, the new Nintendo system is a beefed up gaming tablet. They think that is how to sell a new system to modern players, make the newest system portable.
To me it is just a newer type of Gameboy, even if that is not what they are calling it.
I use to be a beastly gamer, but am now a casual player. I did at times play for a full day. At times up to 10 hours a day. I got through the first Dragon Warrior, my first time playing, in just four days. Currently it would take me about two or three months to get through that game.
It's been a while since I played through a full game, or played for more than two or three hours at a time. Though by some, even that is considered to be playing for a long time. It all depends on who you ask.

It is hard on what to think of on labels. Some, including myself would say, "I hate labels!" >.<
Truth be told, they are quite helpful at times. That is, so long as some people don't either get carried away with them, or take them the wrong way. Like a person being called a furry.
It is a simple enough label, stating the general idea of what a person may have an interest in. Beyond that, things can get real crazy as to what anyone thinks the meaning of what that label truly represents overall, and what it may mean to any given person individually.
Hell, the word 'gay' has sevral meanings, and as to what that meaning is to who, just depends on who you ask. For some like me, gay could either mean to be homosexual, or one who is happy. And meany who are homosexuals, are at times happy as well with being such. So in a way, both would fit well with that given person.
The word 'gay' for others just simply means to demean something as being bad, and using it as a derogatory. Personally, I don't use it under that context.
And yes, you are right. Games are for the fun of playing them, wither it is a little or a lot. Gaming is gaming, for any gamer, regardless. ^.^
This reminds me of an argument I had years ago with my dad. I think I was about 12 at the time. Anyway, I was playing the old game Choplifter on the old Commodore 64. He saw me playing the game, and asked me about it. I told him that you are suppose to rescue the little people with the helicopter.
He saw me flying around mowing down the little people instead, and he asked me again as to what I was doing. I told him that I am shooting the little people.
Next he got angry at me and told me not to play the game if I am not going to play it right. I told him, playing a game is for having some fun with it. And I am having fun doing this at the moment. And, so long as I am having fun, then I am playing it right! Am I not?

As for near any kind of label such as a 'gamer'. I do find it sad how some will use such a label to try and create a separation of those that are, from those that are not. Mostly in light of presenting the idea of who is better, or who is wrong by having that label. This happens a lot with Preppies, Emos, Gothths, Freeks, Furries, Christians, Jews, Atheists, sports enthusiasts, Geeks, Trekkies, Realists, and so on.
Hell, arguments can get real ridiculous over some vary silly things. Like with Bronies, and who is best pony. I say it is Fluttershy. And Derpy as best background pony. And anyone who says otherwise, I will skin alive! >.<
