Some people walk around this world without hope, without the magic in their eyes, or the dream in their soul. Maybe it was other people that came around and beat the happiness out of their heart. Maybe they did it themselves when they came to be treated as a shadow.

I've been told by some that they are masters of suppressing their feelings, but that doesn't erase how they truly feel. It doesn't stop the words coming out of their mouths how alone they feel or how terrible they see themselves as. If you're reading this right now and you're unsure of yourself, I want you to know something.

You're beautiful to me. You're stronger than you really think, but you've believed otherwise for so long that even the hands being held out for you appear closed. Maybe you really don't believe my words right now, and if you don't, I'm sorry...but that doesn't mean you don't deserve the hope and love behind them. I don't know you, I don't know your life, your loves, your pains...all I know is that no matter who you are or where you've come from, you are worth every ounce of compassion and happiness this world can give. So stay safe, keep your heart safe..and if you could..now and again look in the mirror. If you can see the things I see in you..then it's a start.

my family is prone to depression and has mental conditions that run in the family. we're stuck in a bad situation that has no quick or easy solution and though we love each other we have extremely different personalities that clash horribly. we don't have any serious problems like lack of food or possessions, in fact we have more than most, which kinda makes us feel like we don't deserve to be depressed but we're getting through it in our own chaotic way. we personally, i think, don't need any outside help or kind words as we're well accustomed to solving our own problems and though it's difficult to see light at the end of the tunnel we can see that every day isn't all bad. i guess what i want to say is that i know depression and i can fight it. i don't need help but i'd like others to know that it is never the end of the world. whatever you have to fight against there is always good to come and though it will never be your stereotypical happy ending it will always be enough for you personally. i'd like to help others with depression because i know where they stand but i'm not sure i'd be the right one to give advice. the only thing i know is to write down what happens in a day, all of it, and then you can see that there is always good even though there is bad. if i can help i'd be glad to but i feel i can only lend a shoulder to cry on and not give any useful advice. i don't know how effective non-depressed people are against depression but i don't think depressed people would be that helpful. anyways i wish all the depressed people reading this a good day, a good week, a good monht, whatever and whoever you are yes i mean you personally as well.

well for a start you can see how many good things happen on a day to day basis. often you ignore the good things because at the time you were worried about the bad things and overlooked it. if you look it over the next day you often rethink it and find that there was a lot more good things to think about. a lot of depression is chemical in that even though there's a cause it doesn't exactly stop when the situation changes like a direct case of cause and effect. when you are not currently upset about something and may not be upset but not necessarily happy either you often see it in a different light. then knowing that good things often happen at the wrong times you can look out for when a good thing happens next time you're upset and force yourself to take notice. sometimes it can stop you dead in your tracks when you let it and even though it doesn't exactly make you feel better it does shake you from the mood and see things with more open eyes.
