Brb, off to see the world...

- - -

Yeah, made this to show I'm still alive, and doing this during my studies.
It felt strange coming back to my tablet after such a long time,
makes me actually think that it might not be worth estranging myself from my work for my studies.

Nah, I can do both.

Hope you like.

PS, I'd like it if you, the viewer (obviously), would take a moment to rate and comment on the painting style.

Very cute picture. ^^

Coloration is very neat too. Fluffy clouds and a natural feel of things.

Hmmm. If I were to critique, I'd offer a few pieces of advice relating to lighting.

1 - you shouldn't do lineart for the fire, since it's a dynamic light source. I suggest going in with a solid brush to create the shapes with the colors you're going to use for the fire itself, and then use an airbrush sparingly to add highlights and glow at the end. Also, since fire is a light source you should see at least a little bit of orange light on the objects close to it, though not a lot since it's daytime.

2 - the lighting on the balloon and the character is inconsistent and appears to be coming from two different directions. Since the sun is up and behind the scene, you're going to get a very dark, almost silhouetted color scheme with a harsh glowing outline. Also, the inside of the shadows should probably have a slight blue tint reflected from the sky, and any place directly exposed to the sun will have a yellow tint and diffused highlights. :3

I do like how you added some variety to the sky's color and added some subtle god rays ~ I love me sum god rays. xD Just remember that god rays come from misty unformed cloud particles that gather underneath clouds, and appear in a direct line from the sun.

It's a cute idea, and don't get discouraged from painting. It's very difficult ... sometimes there are so many variables in my head when I color that painting feels like math. TuT

Thanks, I appreciate it. Yeah there were some obvious mistakes there, I wonder how I didn't see em while working. I blame the crows.

CURSE THOSE CROWS. And yeah don't worry too much about it. It's a lot easier to see mistakes when you've had a chance to step back from it for a while
