Bet yah didn't know Nightshade was in the military did you? He has been serving his country proudly for over 7 years now and has reached the rank of E-5 which is known as a Petty Officer 2nd class. In 13 more years he can try to reach E-9 but that is very hard. Either way in 7 years he has got himself a spiffy outfit, 2 warfare devices (the sliver ones below and above the ribbons) and some nice chest candy!
That's one way to show that not all cats hate water. ;-)
Despite a fairly long career in the Navy, one sailor never learned to swim. When asked, he answered, "Where are you going to swim TO when you're 800 miles from land?" His CO had a more positive spin: "He's the best sailor I have in damage control - he works harder than anyone else to keep this ship afloat!"
