Well I bought some pastel colored pencils and wanted to try experimenting with them, since I remember using pastels in highschool and loved the effect. Unfortuatnely, while the shading looks great to me, smudging the dust in very fine spots caused some issues, like smudging the pencil lines and bleeding into each other.
So I decided to try to fix and enhance it digitally, which came out alright. It's clear I'll need some practice and a better plan of attack, but I already have some ideas of how I can do that better (Though what I could give for a sharpened eraser).
Anyway, this is Choral Oceaphy, the little infant hero of Ocealand. This is her all grown up though. Years in the future, she grows into a very powerful water master and thanks to Runia's influence, she essentially becomes a Novaninjian very quickly. The latest born Starmaninjian hero becoming a Nova goes to show that the Stars have no limit to what they can accomplish, even if just after birth.
I actually may redo this piece entirely digitally, but I love the textures. I'll have to figure out a way to make a texture map of what I've drawn and play around with that while working my magic.
