FINAL FANTASY IX SPOILERS AHEAD
The Cleyrans are an endangered species now. After the destruction of the Cleyra Settlement, the few remaining survivors had to wander the desert with nowhere to call home. Eventually, Burmecia began to rebuild and many Cleyrans became refugees in a fallen nation. More than just lives were lost in the invasion- their very culture, their way of living was at risk of being forgotten forever. It then fell upon the few that remembered the old ways to try and keep their heritage alive. One of those few was Freya Crescent.
Though she was a Dragon Knight of Burmecia, she knew many of their sacred dances and rituals and with cooperation of the remaining Cleyran people, they began to piece together their most important rituals. Now, once a year, the streets of Burmecia fill with flowers and raw wood archest to honor the Cleyran culture and the Cleyrans don their traditional robes. On a stage in the center of the city, maidens dressed in ceremonial garb dance the sacred dance of the Cleyra Tree- and always leading them is the hero of Burmecia, the great Dragon Knight, Freya Crescent.
