Shading/lighting and finer details are on their own layer, you can edit the hue of the eyes and more complex details to avoid loosing quality. Takes seconds.
And assuming your on sai to edit the Base colours of objects like the ribbon, bell and Base fur you can check preserve opacity to avoid going outside the lines if you lack a tablet. ^^
