[Poem - Spoken audio] Pink and Yellow Fields
[Audio] Picnic on an Exoplanet
On 22nd June, I posted a journal, "Audio Thoughts...", inviting my +watchers to ask me anything about myself, my characters, or whatever, and said I'd post the response in an audiofile on 3 July- Today. I'm actually on time with something! Go figure... :P

Well, anyway, you get to hear my voice again. :P And if there is anything else, ask- If there IS anything to answer, I'll post it next week, similar to this. :P

BTW, the noise in the background is the dishwasher.

Thank you. Give Apple this, when they build a machine, they build it to last! The last version of Tiger was one of their best builds, too, exceptionally stable and powerful. (I haven't seen Snowleopard. Right now they're playing-up Lion. They're getting short of big cats...)

I'm a little surprised that you don't make more use of online research resources. I use Wikipedia and Google as well as several specialty websites just to do my local furry group's weekly birfday list. Writing comes mostly from my own imagination of course, but sometimes I need to check facts and good ol' Google nearly always comes through. (It's a handy spelling checker, too.) Like you, I'm not really happy with the idea of Google Documents, though. It's not because what I write about is all that sensitive, (although it can be now and then), it's just that I don't feel secure leaving my stuff in "the cloud." Partly I don't trust it to be secure from prying eyes, certainly not as secure as my own hard drive; partly I'm scared that it'll wind up in the "bit bucket" for no particular reason. I can just imagine happily laying down a juicy scene of lesbian lovin' when a power failure knocks out my neighborhood and when I finally log back on, the entire story is Just Plain Gone. "How can I recover my document?" I beg Google. "Sorry Charlie, you deleted it when you logged off like that. Next time be more careful." *screams like Darth Vader*

Thanks again for replying!

Oh, silly me-- I didn't think of online research resources! But yes, I use the "usual suspects", all right-- Wikipedia and Google when I need to-- My little story with the squirrel girl and the singing mice ("Facing a New Day" -

) relied heavily on Google for the song lyrics to "Mr. Sandman" and "Blue Moon". The rest of the time, I simply make it up as I go along, not even having a browser (FIREFOX!) window open while TextEdit is open. :)

For spellchecking, I rely entirely on the Mac's supplied checker, and it doesn't particularly like my Anglicised spellings. ;)

It's sad that right now, Apple's going to cloud usage with both OSX Lion and iOS (iPhone/iPod) 5... :P

Perhaps I should've said this in an audio response, but oh, well... :P

Silly, ol' quozl! *hugs* I'm really not comfortable with the increasing shift towards cloud computing. It assumes pervasive, cheap Internet and that's not available up here in Canuckistan; all major ISPs and most of the rest impose severe usage caps. (I mean, they seem huge, but it's surprising how quickly a gigabyte passes, especially when you're catching up on MLP:FiM on Youtube because you don't get that channel.) I've no idea how anybody plays WoW  or SL up here! I think I have one of the few unlimited accounts available and even that's pretty modest DSL.

Anyway, thanks again for talking. ^_^
