She will be for sale when I'm done!

I got her wing fin things made and she's all ready to paint! Her tail fin is covered for now until I get her all painted up. I was planning on making her fin/wings removable for shipping but they aren't behaving right getting them into her back, so instead I'll just have to permanently fix them to her back. That way I can decorate up the area where they connect anyway so it's not so obvious. This new UV cured resin I got works absolutely awesome! I put it on her wings and it works like a super strong glue to get the pearls to stay on, it makes the film shinier and it makes the fins much stronger! The only downside is that the resin wants to sort of collect in certain parts of the film, like it avoids certain parts of the film and goes to others. I'm assuming its from the oil from my fingertips, I'm not sure what to clean the film with though before i put the resin on. Ah well, I just put a second coat of resin on it and it covers those thin spots, but obviuosly, i'm not able to get a really nice smooth surface like I'd like :( With the pearls on there it doesn't matter, but it's noticeable on the parts I only put resin and no decorations. I'll have to see if I can find any info to get this resin to not behave that way.

Seriously, hand down, I need to call you my master in the arts of sculpting. How on Earth did you make the clay so smooth-looking? I have tools to "smoothen" some rough edges, but could never come as smooth as yours!

I use super sculpey for the clay, what do you use?

lol thank you! :D

I actually use sanding sponges to sand the figures after they're baked :D It smooths out anything I couldn't get smooth when the clay was soft :D It doesn't really work well for tight corners though. I get these thin types and cut them into small pieces https://www.amazon.com/High-Flex-Sanding-Pads-Micro/dp/...

I don't get them online though, my dad gives me a bunch because he does autobody repair on cars and he always gets stacks of them all the time.

I also use super sculpey :D but I mix super sculpey and super sculpey firm together to make it so I can get more detail out of the clay but so its not so hard and not too soft.
