OK, let me explain myself:

I saw the trailer for the remake of The Magnificent Seven. I've never seen the "Original" but Seven Samurai is one of my favorite films which so happened to have been remade into a Western called, you guessed it, Magnificent Seven. I'm sure it's a good film and the re-remake doesn't bother me as much as perhaps I have made it seem in some quarters. Go see it, have fun.

My point was that this whole remake thing is getting a little stale. In my opinion, a film (or any work of art, for that matter) should only be remade if the original was broken or flawed in some irredeamable way, or if it is being told in a different way. For example, Magnificent Seven or A Bug's Life. We've got samurai, cowboys and insects, now let's see a gritty cyberpunk take on it, or high fantasy or, here it comes, even a My Little Pony retelling of the tale of honor, self sacrifice and broken barriers between social classes.

In any case, I spent the last week or so on this set to half seriously prove a point. Really, they were just fun to draw! Some of the some of the pony samurai were really obvious, and others were a bit of a challenge. Despite the nearly three and a half hour length of Seven Samurai, I could have wished even more time was spent on some scenes, particularly the introductions of the samurai. I don't have the best grasp on all their personalities, but I tried my best, even if some reasons for pairing up characters were really quite trivial.

A lot could be said and argued for Pony crossovers, but I will leave that for another discussion.

The paintings will be uploaded in the order in which they were painted. Here they are shown together because, much like the characters themselves, they may be brilliant on their own but they truly shine when they are one.
