Adoptables are characters design made by an Artist that put them for sale and can be adopted by other people (with money or other type of offer ) as their personal Character. Then the new character's owner can create name , personality , background story and change a little the outfit as it's own character.

So you are buying the rights to a character's design?
Little strange but makes sense for unique characters. Whatever floats you boat and all that ^^
I have seen people buy some weird stuff, like this one dude who bought a characters virginity for 900 dollars, just a weird concept to me.

Wait till you see how much people spend on MYO slots :D (MYO = make your own, basically the right to make a design for a certain species that is created by someone else) It's pretty big on deviantArt ^^ I myself recently got sucked into the whole adoptable thing. I call it an "investment" XD

I personally like the idea, there are a lot of awesome designers with great ideas and a lot of people who want to have pretty and exotic characters (like jello kittens, for example) :)

I actually design all kinds of critters, problem is that a lot of the time, I'm already covered in my own critters for stories and such, and I lack any art skills. Stuff like working with Fuf lets me get them a good home and gets her some much needed income. (I was actually rather surprised that Jitters sold for $50 within five minutes.)

Now I imagine you literally covered in all kinds of cute critters XD As for the art skills - they develop in time ^^ Two years ago I couldn't draw on a tablet for the life of me XD Now I'm much better ^^

To be honest, I'm not surprised at all. These two are precious <3 Both the concept and the art are amazing :3

I only designed Mr. Jigglesworth, Fuf actually thought it was a better idea to have both a boy and girl, she decided on color, and Jitters as a name.. and the collars.

I suck at art, my hands are unsteady and clumsy. I'm more built for setting things like stories and characters up. Every single one of my characters has a story and unique personality, even the ones that I'm selling. Like that Scarecrow Wolf that you favorited (Thank you for those, by the way.) He's a French pediatrician working in a medium sized city named New Joy. He's quite the sweetheart and gentleman.
