[This might be the first decent portrait of Kaliendra I ever drawn. If I will be able to draw her better in future, I will delete it to replace it with another one. I'm never satisfied by my art style nor by the look of Kaliendra, a character I'm seeking to improve since eight years.]
This is the official portrait of Kaliendra Wacha of the Ahkis clan, the first queen of Abun. Before her, Abun had only male kings succeding at the throne. Her election has been the result of a long period of economical stagnation due to the extinction of the Great Prairie of Shibban, one of the provinces of the country, and three subsequent wars that the country had to endure, first with the Issadi, then the Zonizans.
Being the first queen who wore the Ny'It, the Royal headdress, she had to fight against the stereotypes of her enemies and her own citizens too, who thought a woman would be unable to rule over what is a regional empire, but after the success of the second Abunese-Zonizan war, a series of populist measures such as the adoption of a "political" price for bread, the introduction of a pension for the unemployed (who previously had to rely on the aids of the Say'Rada priests in order to survive), and the beginning of a resettlement campaign in the economically depressed Shibban province, contributed to increase her popularity. The victory over the Zonizans, where she fought along her soldiers, made her respected even by the Hexarchs themselves. Unlike her predecessors, Kaliendra doesn't dress with luxurious clothes nor has any kind of precious jewelry: she dresses like a commoner of the Enit province (the main province of the kingdom, where the capital, Enit, is located) and she regularly goes among her people to hear their thoughts. The choice to be barefoot contributed to make her close to the lower classes and some see it as an inspiration from the first king of Abun, Yaz "Buraldkin".
Currently Kaliendra is 22 years old and she is the youngest monarch ruling in Abun.
