Melanie's diary was a big jump board for Charlie. He didn't expect to find it when he was in a hurry to find her book bag for school...but when he got the chance, he started to read all about Melanie's inner thoughts. What he found was quite an eye-opener for him. Charlie started to realize that Melanie had some very strong thoughts about Charlie but didn't know how to tell him.
Though she never got to decide because Charlie told her he had read it...so she got to talk about what she thought and how she thought.
