It was interesting heading to work today. A lot of people were down in ways I had never seen before. Even heard someone say around the various aisles " I don't come here to make friends. I'm here for the money. " and it made me sad. A lot of people start to turn in that direction as exhaustion and apathy takes hold of them.
So I began something very shortly on during my breaks. I created a character just for Amazon known as Person Mcperson Face. The alien rabbit who infiltrates a stocking warehouse as a worker and thusly tries their darn hardest to impersonate being a human.
A curious thing happened. I'd first found some of the pages thrown in the garbage when I came back to the tables but after fishing them out, I would find others passing the pages to one another at the tables and having some chuckles. Now and then someone would say to me in passing " Hello fellow human! " and we would laugh.
Don't ever forget how fleeting and powerful those moments are. How important they are. A lot of us feel alien to this world and to each other. We should never stop trying though to find some way to connect. We can't ever just sit back and shrug our arms just to say " I'm not here to make friends. " because when we do..strange things start to creep on inside.
