I guess it was unavoidable with us living together. (Or "I guess it could not be helped with us living in the same house.") A few awkward situations happened that we had to get used to. (or "A few accidents happend and we had to hang in there." or "Getting used to the accidents that happened from time to time was awkward/hard.")
You can also put it into one sentence: "I think it was hard to avoid some accidents from happing by living together like this and it took some time for us to adapt (to the new situation)."
or
"We had to adapt to some 'accidents' that were bound to happen sooner or later caused by us living together."
I am no natural speaker but I think these would be the translations I would use to describe it. Maybe some feedback from others would be good here as well (if they like the translations or which they like the best).
