Remember before cellphones, when people called and they'd ask, "Is this a bad time?" I found with a cell phone, every time is a 'bad time'.

In Chucky's society they're called 'coms', and you look directly at the person you're talking to, so obviously that means a serious division of attention.

and this is why you STAY STILL while using electronic devices.

I've done that while reading a book. Good times

And that, Chucky, is why there are so many auto accidents when people drive and use their cell phones.

I'd gotten my first cell phone not long before this page. I've echoed my annoyance with them in my comic here and there. Or not so much my annoyance with cell phones, but my frustrations with integrating it into my life.

I can relate to the integrating a cell phone into your life.  I hate telephones, any kind of telephone, but, I know the necessity of having one just in case you are needed immediately.  Since my mother's 83 years old, I need to have my cell phone on me at all times; unfortunately, 9 out of every 10 phone calls I receive are from telemarketers telling how I asked them to call me.  Yeahright.

I remember hearing somewhere that the amount of bot-calls are in the billions per day.

I think that estimate is low. I've actually received five (5) calls in one day from the same company telling me how good I was at paying my credit card bills.  (What credit card!?)  Recently, I received three calls in one day saying that I had asked them to contact me for information about braces (body not teeth).  Sorry lady, no need for one of those.  I mean, JEEZ!

Dude! I got the braces one the other day! Yeah you're probably right on the low estimate. If they're hitting most cell phones in the world, multiple times a day, it's definitely in the billions.

OMG!  Did they say that you had requested information about them?  That's what the recording said to me.  I really wish the "Do Not Call" list could literally put those people out of business.  No, I wish I was a programmer and I could do something about their computer calling people that don't want the calls.  I won't say what but, that's what I wish.

I think so. But as soon as I heard the recording I hung up and blocked the number. It's the same computer generated voice on most of 'em. What I'd like to know is who got their computer science degree and went to work coding this sort of thing. It's like the same people who program pop-up ads into websites.

Ah, if only I could block numbers on my phone.  Unfortunately, because I just want a phone that makes phone calls and nothing else, I can't.  (Or, at least I don't know how.)  The bad thing, though, is these telemarketers are piggy backing on other phone numbers.  I know because they use my area code and the exchange is from my cell phone provider.

I get the same thing with the area code. I've even seen the last four numbers change sequentially each day, so I know it's some sort of code going through the numbers.
