Centuries have passed since the first trade agreements were established in Nova, they began as simple truces and ceasefires made by many of the races after the Genesis War, with many of the gods gone or dead, the races were left confused and without direction, many of the servants of the gods had no real objectives like the gods they served did and without their gods directing them they quickly decided that it was better to reorganize heal their wounds and rebuild their lands, unwilling to continue fighting each race decided it was better to mind their own problems,and that way the first agreement between the races was achieved it was just a simple "don't mess with me and I won't mess with you". Time passed and the races keep developing their lands and expanding but it was clear that each race could not keep going with only the resources they had at hand on their lands, each race had exploited and developed the resources of their lands and they had not desire to start a war again to get the resources they lacked, so it became clear that they had to exchanged what they had to get what they needed.

History has forgotten which race signed the first trading agreement, the oldest registry available comes from the Dragon Archives that details trading between the Dragons and the Foxens, but as commerce developed, Trading Houses were born, entire families dedicated to manage trading between races from transport to transactions, this was first done with complicated contracts and exchange letters and eventually these became simpler and simpler until one day the Rodencian House Silvarie created what Novans today call currency or coin, House Silvarie dealt with Silver they mined it and refined it eventually they developed what came to be known as Silvarie Tokens, engraved pieces of silver that served as proof of value and trade on Rodencian lands, they eventually became widespread outside of Rodencian lands and soon the Token began to be called "Silvaris" and used widely by traders, eventually other Trading houses began developing their own currency to use, these tokens were made of different metals of different values, so quickly traders began to assign different values to each of them, the polished iron tokens made by the Iron Working Houses Wolfens known as "Itons" were assigned a lower value than "Silvaris" and used on smaller scale trading while the pale golden coins crafted by the Harpy trading house of Shalia known as "Shalas" were used on bigger contracts.

Eventually traders began mixing the usage of this tokens, this forced the trading house to develop agreements on the use of their currencies, an agreement was reached and the currencies unified and given a value,in celebration of the agreement a trading post was built know as Shakan, this small trading post will eventually develop into the great merchant city of Shakan the bed of mayor trading in Nova.
