Character Description
Verteller is a rat coming of age and is very interested in food.
His mother was a Norwegian and his father was a Black.
Sadly, because of the way he likes to keep his hair, he often gets mistake (and sometimes harassed) for being a female.
Personality
Verteller is very reactive to stimuli, and could be possibly bipolar. He like being alone, but he also enjoys the company of close friends, as well as cooking for them.
Other than that, he's pretty much an average rat with a refined sense of taste and a tendency to avoid crowds.

Background/History
Verteller was born in the United States after his mother was visiting on a student visa to attend Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. There she met Artio who had been a local rat for quite a while. His father can trace his line to when his people arrived in New York, migrating from Italy before World War II.
His auntie was kind enough to give him his touk and a spoon for his 10th birthday and the whisk and quiver for his 15th. The touk, he embellished with a feather, because when young, he always had an interest in pirate stories like that of Treasure Island.
Also, when he was young, he was picked on often because he appears of indiscriminate gender. Many years of taunting has made him very shy and reclusive.
He is named Verteller after his mother's father. Verteller is Dutch for "storyteller."

World/Setting
Vereller's world is pretty much a generic furry world, much like our own. There was never a presence of human beings, although the history of his world is striking similar to that of ours. Clothing is acceptable but neither encouraged or discouraged.
Body
Verteller has a "skinny rat's pudge." He's not fully grown into his body yet, and sometimes a bit awkward especially with his tail, which is nearly as long as he is tall. He is considered a piebald rat with his markings, a saddle and an eyepatch.
Clothing
Verteller's current outfit consists of a leather quiver and a touk (or chef's hat) with a yellow feather attached.
Accessories
V3erteller keeps a wire whisk and a wooden spoon in his quiver.
