The vortigaunts in HL1 were a major annoyance, with their heat-seeking electrical attack; the only way you could avoid it is to hide behind something, run around a corner, or run out of range (the latter being quite difficult). It also didn't help that they usually came in packs. But at least the attack was weak (depending on the difficulty), and that they were quite easy to kill.

The vortigaunts in HL2 (and especially in HL2:EP2), however, can kick some serious ass! Luckily for you (and Alyx), they are friends now. Their attacks can kill most enemies in a single shot, and they have new, special attacks they use against the antlions in EP2. They can also take some serious punishment (way more than the HL1 versions) and keep fighting; the only way they could possibly die is if you deliberately let them get overwhelmed.

Here, Gretchen learns to hate them in HL1, but love them in EP2.

This is also the first comic I've ever done, and it (hopefully) won't be the last.
