I'll admit, I normally don't take kindly to recolors, but that mainly pertains to fancharacters used for roleplays, since the majority of recolored characters (at least in my opinion) are Mary-Sues/Marty-Stus.

I usually refer to a male Mary Sue as Gary Stu. I also get kind of peeved at how everybody likes to give their characters ridiculous super powers or make them personally related to Sonic or any of the other heroes. Nobody ever heard of a flawed hero?

Oh gawd I know, a HUGE pet peeve of mine is overpowered characters, ESPECIALLY if they have no viable weaknesses. I don't really much care for characters related to official ones (although I will admit, I made a fan character who is Sonic's little brother, but his stamina and physical strength is no better than the average human child, except he's slightly faster).
What's even worse is when people make fan-characters specifically designed to outshine canon characters. Like a character being faster than Sonic, or more physically powerful than Knuckles (I can understand if the species used is known for great physical strength, like a wolverine or a bear). Not to mention the "I AM T3H ULTUMAT LIFEFOORM AND AM BETTAR THAN SHADOW HERPITY DERPITY DOO" characters, ugh. >.<"
