Personality
Rusty is a very cunning unicorn. Caution and daring both have a place in his mind. He only speaks in favor of a theory until he has evidence against the rival theories, evidence of scientific prudence rather than professorial timidity. Once convinced by his own eyes and mind, he would not be swayed even by the advice of well-informed friends who urge him to proceed with caution. Tact and diplomacy are not his strong points, but his acerbic personality, particularly in scientific debate, make him some few friends. His personality would be of little help when his views come under question. He speaks in a playful and condescending manner, which often irritates the ponies he is speaking to.

He likes all things science and novelty equestrian technologies.
He dislikes authority figures and being contradicted.
Background/History
Rusty's special talent is mechanics and optic, designing various contraptions as a hobby, as well as being the towns optometrist. He also has built some telescopes for Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns, from where he graduated majoring in Astronomy.
