My mashup of Fort Minor and Thom Rotella Band. A sample of "Loopy De Loop" played at ½-speed serves as the intro.

Scary that I know the guitar sample, because I actually do have this on CD-- Thom Rotella Band's "Bring On The Night" from a 3" CD sampler I got years ago from the jazz label DMP, titled "A Touch of DMP". :)

The French cartoon track proves humour works across languages... :)

That's where I got it from, too! :D I also have "A Touch Of DMP, Volume 2."

The French part is dialogue from a Loopy De Loop cartoon; it's the part where he gets shrunk and his voice plays at double speed. I slowed it down to ½ speed to see what the fuck he said! :P

While "A Touch of DMP 2" can easily be found on torrent sites,  the CD is almost IMPOSSIBLE to be found, it seems-- And I'd love to have the CD to complement the CD I already have! :) (One of the better CD freebies I got back in the '80s, I should say-- The four tracks just work together quite well. :) )

I have both original CD's in storage. A few months ago I got Volume 2 off said torrent. ;) And I downloaded the Thom Rotella album as well. Don't forget "A Taste Of DMP", also. :P

"Taste" and its sequels aren't that hard to find- Just "Touch 2". :P Oddly, the first "Touch" CD- which we both have- is fairly common (thanks to being a mail-in giveaway), but if I find that second CD, I'm gonna get it. :P

DMP in the '80s and '90s, much like many of the indie CD labels of the time, was a shining (pun unintended?) example of the power and quality of the modern independent label back then............ Curse the big corporations, for sucking all that up! :P

And all of DMP's recordings are DDD. ^^

Yep. :) I don't know if they ever did manage to recover the 1977 digital recording that was recorded on some unique format, which the recorder used had long disappeared....

AH! 1977!! ^^ My favourite year! :D

:)

I checked the Wiki entry for Flim & The BBs-- To date, they still haven't recovered the original digital recording for their first album from '77. :( There needs to be some non-destructive way to read the tape, find the pattern and head pitch, and attempt to decode it.

Well.... when all else fails, I can always restore it for them. :P

I would think by now someone would know or figure out a way to reverse-engineer an experimental digital recording, particularly since it most likely didn't use helical video heads (as most digital tapes used- Nowadays, everyone uses optical, flash or hard disk drives(.

Oh, well...

In other news, I'm contemplating doing an audio reading of my Gliese 581 poem (
Poem: Pink and Yellow Fields (A tribute to Gliese 581) by dmfalk
), just trying to decide which mic to use- The Blue mic for my iPod or my big Blue Snowball for my Mac, which I still have yet to use... :)

Now you REALLY got me interested in finding their debut album. I can't wait to hear it. :P

As far as I know, the "Flim & The BBs" debut album was only released on vinyl on the Studio 80 label in the Minneapolis area, and has never been reprinted since '77. :(

I checked eBay and saw 2 copies for sale.... for at least $200! :( Feh, I wanna hear it.

Studio 80 may be the same studio where Prince taped some of his earliest demos. I have those demos. ^^

$200 sounds about right for a rare in-demand slab o' vinyl. :) I'm sure, however, that there's a vinyl-rip torrent of the album floating about-- After all, this IS the Internet! :D

I'm not always looking for something like this, but if a vinyl rip crosses my path, I'll let you know. I'm sure, actually, you'll neat me to it.

Earlier today, I posted my request in a forum to see if anyone can mail me a vinyl rip. And if the mods at the Flim Forum approve my registration request, I'll ask them there, too.

As you already know, I was fortunate to win a STILL-SEALED copy of the 1977 album off eBay. ^^

Except for the singing, this music sounds very similar to the music they play in my favorite music.  I love it =)
