I took my first ever snowboarding lesson today! Had a fantastic time and loved it to bits, despite falling on my butt thirteen times, by my count. By the end of it I was really having fun and feeling like I could at least get to the bottom of the hill safe and more or less sound. It was pretty basic stuff of course, starting us off with toe and then heel side slips, and it took some practise to find the right balance point. When we got into diagonal side slips that's when I really started having a blast; more speed and a real sense of flow to it. That's the point I think I became hooked.

So that's what's pictured here; a diagonal heel edge side slip. I could've drawn myself doing some kind of badass rail grind leap into a late double chained flipping reverse 980 with quadruple tail grab (yeah okay I totally made that up) but I thought it'd be more fun to draw myself doing something closer to what I actually managed today. Artistic license has just been taken in a few smaller ways: 1) I was in an indoor ski slope called the Xscape, not out on a pristine powdered mountainside (I live in Milton Keynes and it's April after all), 2) I of course have designed my own coordinated custom gear and board here, because anything worth doing is worth doing with style, and 3) I did not actually get air today, but I wanted to show off the crazy underside of the snowboard I made up. Yes it says 'Rawr.' And the Doran Eirok snowboardy logo on the bottom is from the mind of my friend Kurra; a nod to him since he's largely responsible for getting me interested enough to prod myself into finally giving boarding a try. ^^
