An Uncomfortable Halloween

Despite it being the weekend, Zen could not sleep in. He found himself wide awake just before the sun came up. He was both excited and nervous. His mind kept shifting to what Black had chosen for the two of them to wear. No matter how much he pestered her, she would not tell him what their costumes were. He had even gone to Ruby to try and figure it out but she wouldn’t even give any hints. Today would be especially hard. It wouldn’t be till 3pm that he would be allowed to see and put on his costume. One thing that stuck out as odd was that they were going to get ready two hours before leaving to go out. Just how long would it take to put this costume on?

Most of the morning and afternoon had been planned out. Since it was the weekend Chaotic had decided to take Zen and Black to see grandma Soul. They would leave early and would be back with plenty of time to get ready to go out for the evening. This would be a big surprise for the old wolf. Last time she saw Zen, him and Black were still sharing the same body. Chaotic had called Irene about visiting on the weekend but he didn’t tell Zen. Ruby had decided to stay home and get things ready for the evening. She wanted to be able to come back and deal with the later trick or treaters. Plus, there was no guarantee Zen would be able to handle the excitement of being around so many people in costume.

Zen had gotten out of bed and made his way to the dining area. Both Chaotic and Ruby were sitting at the table talking while sipping some coffee. Chaotic was first to notice Zen as he approached the table. He gave Zen a warm smile. Good morning Zen, did you sleep well? Zen hopped up into the chair next to Chaotic before he answered. He gave a half shrug and nodded. Yea I slept okay. Took me a while to fall asleep though. I kept thinking about what I would be wearing tonight. Not knowing is a killer. Chaotic laughed and ruffled Zen’s hair. I know they won’t tell me either. I guess it will be a surprise for both of us. Speaking of surprises, you should get Black up. We need to get ready to go soon.

Zen raised an eyebrow and tilted his head in question. Get ready to go? Where are we going? Chaotic chuckled again and pet Zen on the head. That’s the surprise. Now go wake that sleepy head sister of yours. Zen smiled as he hopped out of his chair and gave Chaotic a hug. Okay, dad I’ll wake her up. Chaotic squeezed Zen in a tight hug before letting him run off to wake Black up.

As soon as Zen had disappeared into his room, Chaotic turned to Ruby. It’s still hard to get used to that. Ruby chuckled. What’s the matter papa wolf having second thoughts about being a father? Chaotic shook his head. It’s not that, I mean I guess I thought it would take him longer to call me dad. Ruby nodded as she took another sip of her coffee. I hear you there. The first time he called me mom I about started crying. Black too, the two of them sure know how to make your heart melt. Chaotic smiled before standing to start breakfast. I guess this is what it’s like to have a family of your own.

Zen stood next to Black’s bed with a grin. He reached over and ran his finger from between her eyes to the tip of her nose. The reaction he got made Zen giggle. Instead of brushing her paw over her face Black stuck her tongue out and licked the top of her muzzle. Given how long her tongue was it looked like she could lick her own eye. Zen ran his finger over the top of Black’s muzzle again and got the same reaction. This time Zen laughed loud enough to wake Black. She sat up and rubbed her eyes. What’s so funny Zen? She then looked at the digital clock next to her bed. It’s still so early. Why did you wake me up? Zen leaned in close to Black and bumped his nose to hers. You are funny when you sleep. I guess I didn’t realize how long our tongues are. Zen stuck his tongue out and wrapped it over the top of his muzzle before giggling again. And to answer your question about why I woke you up. Dad is going to take us somewhere. He said it’s a surprise.

After a few minutes of giggling at each other as they made faces that really showed how long their tongues were, the two pups got their clothes ready and made their way to the bathroom they shared. Chaotic had went out and bought a couple of full body fur driers for the master bathroom and Zen and Black’s bathroom. This made it much easier getting ready in the mornings. It would always take a long time to dry. Now they could get ready in half the time. It still took quite a bit of time to comb through all their fir and long hair. Having hair that went down to the small of their backs looked nice, but it was a pain to maintain. Once the two pups were dried they would take turns brushing each other’s fur and hair.

After both pups were finished brushing each other’s fur and hair the two of them dressed and made their way to the dining room. The smell of bacon filled the house. Zen smiled as he sat down at the table. There were pancakes, sausage, bacon and eggs on plates ready for him and Black. Chaotic and Ruby couldn’t help but laugh as the two pups said their thanks in sync before digging into their plates of food. As Chaotic sat down at his own plate of food he warned the two pups. You too be careful not to over eat. We don’t want to be late getting on the road. Again the pups answered in perfect sync with a simple “okay” before going back to stuffing their faces.

The two pups had been speaking in sync more and more since they started practicing for their fireworks show. This made them seem even more like twins. After everyone had their fill of breakfast, Chaotic had the pups hop into the car. Ruby stood at the door waving with a big smile as the three wolves pulled out of the driveway. As soon as they started driving away she went about her prep work for the evening.

Zen was a little confused when Ruby didn’t join them in the car. Hey dad, um why isn’t mom coming with us? Chaotic glanced at Zen through the mirror before answering. Well someone has to stay at the house to get everything ready for tonight. We may have visitors after we get back from trick or treating. Also we won’t be gone for too long. Zen tilted his head. Okay but you still haven’t said where we are going. Chaotic chuckled as he glanced at Zen once more. You’ll know when we get their trust me. Zen and Black both crossed their arms and gave a sigh in perfect sync. This made Chaotic laugh. You two sure like doing that don’t you?

Black tilted her head to the side and raised an eyebrow. What are you talking about? Chaotic glanced at Black seeing that she really didn’t seem to know what he meant. You mean you two don’t do that on purpose? Both Zen and Black spoke at once, “do what?” Chaotic laughed, “that” you two just spoke at the exact same time. Zen and Black both looked at each other and spoke at the same time. We did? After seeing each other do it they both frowned. Again the spoke in unison. “Hey that’s not funny.” The two of them growled at each other before busting out laughing.

Zen was the first to stop laughing and spoke as he wiped tears from his eyes. I guess I had no idea we were even doing that. Black sighed as she wiped tears from her own eyes. Yea we must have started when we were practicing to read each other’s movements for the festival. Oh by the way daddy, how long will it take for us to get to this surprise?

Chaotic looked down at the clock on the car’s radio. I’d say we should be there in another forty-five minutes, give or take. Much of the rest of the car ride was spent listening to music. Chaotic was surprised how much Zen and Black liked the music he listened to. It certainly wasn’t something most kids would get into. Zen seemed to especially like rock and metal. Black seemed to like alternative and punk. At some point in the car ride all three of them were singing along with every song that played.

When Chaotic finally parked the car, Zen let out a gasp. He looked at Black and smiled. Black looked around for a moment before she recognized the building. She smiled for a moment then her smile turned to a frown. Do you think she will like me? I mean I used to be a demon. Zen grabbed Black by the muzzle and turned her to face him. He was a mere inch from her nose as he spoke. Black, she will love you. You look just like me. You are family. And if she doesn’t like you, then it’s her loss. Black nodded. Okay but you go in the room first. Zen smiled before nodding and let go of Black muzzle.

As the three wolves exited the car and made their way across the parking lot, Black began to look even more worried. By the time they had reached Irene’s room Black was shaking. For the first time she felt scared to meet someone. The door to Irene’s room was open. Zen peaked his head in before knocking on the door frame. Irene looked up from the book she was reading. She gave a big smile before motioning for Zen to come in. Why isn’t this a pleasant surprise. Come in Zen come in, let me get a better look at you. Zen smiled as he ran up and gave his great grandma a hug. After hugging Zen, Irene held him out at arms-length and looked him over. Why look at you, your aura is practically shining now.

Irene looked a little puzzled. Where is your friend Black? I don’t sense her presence in you anymore. Zen looked back at the door. Black was still hidden around the corner shaking. Chaotic was standing in the doorway. He looked down at Black. He was a little shocked to see her like this. She was normally so fearless when it came to talking to others. Chaotic knelt down facing Black. Are you okay? Irene seemed even more confused. Who do you have out there? The size of the aura I see is that of a child. Have you gone and adopted another child?

Chaotic looked at Irene then back to Black. You could say that. I’ve never seen her do this before though. Zen walked over to the door and grabbed Black by the hand. Come on I told you it would be fine. Black nodded and slowly made her way into the room. Her eyes were practically glued to the floor. It wasn’t until she was right beside Irene’s rocking chair that she finally looked up at the old wolf.

Irene’s eyes were wide with surprise. This aura… but it can’t be. She has the traits of our family… but her fur is black as night. Irene looked Chaotic in the eyes. How is this possible? Chaotic shrugged. I was as surprised as you are when they pulled this off. Irene looked back at Zen and Black. Zen smiled at her before making an introduction. Grandma Soul, this is Black. She was dying so I saved her. Irene’s eyes narrowed. Your two used forbidden magic didn’t you. Black looked down at the floor. Yes, it was a forbidden spell. But Zen would have suffered if we hadn’t used it.

Chaotic interrupted Black with a cough. Trust me when I say this. Zen was willing to go to any length to save her. Irene’s glare softened as she looked at Black. Well then dear I guess that makes you my new granddaughter. Black’s mouth dropped open. Her eyes teared up as she looked up at the old wolf. Y..you mean you don’t hate me? Irene reached out and pulled Black into a hug. Heavens no dear, I could never hate someone who cares so much about my great grandson. Besides you’re not a demon anymore you’re a Soul now. You’ll never have to worry about being corrupted as long as our families blood runs through your body. Black looked up at Irene as she was hugged tight. You mean you can tell I’ve got the same blood as Zen? Irene laughed. Of course I can tell. No member of the Soul family could mistake the aura our blood creates.

Black looked a little more relieved but then she got a puzzled look on her face. So you’re saying you can tell when people are related by their auras? Irene set Black down and crossed her arms. Well it’s easier to see an aura of a family with a strong magical background. The stronger the family is with a specific magic type also makes it easier to see their relation. However, that is not always a true way to see if someone is related by blood. If two people were to be advanced in the same type of magic their auras may look very similar. Black crossed her arms and frowned. All this aura stuff sounds complicated. I’m still getting used to seeing them. Irene laughed and pat Black on the shoulder. Trust me I have years of experience. It takes time and practice to be able to determine someone’s relation just by seeing their aura.

Zen leaned against Black and gave her a hug. Don’t feel bad Black, I still have trouble determining genders by aura. Irene raised an eyebrow. Zen the only time you should have trouble with that is if the person you are looking at happened to be a hermaphrodite or if they had made the decision to become the opposite sex. Zen put his finger on his chin for a moment. Well maybe that’s what she is then. Black looked at Zen confused. Who are you talking about? Zen put a little more of his weight on Black before standing up straight again. I’m talking about Sammy from school. Black scratched her chin for a moment. Well now that you mention it, her aura was different from everyone’s in the class. Her aura was more like ours really.

Irene looked over to Chaotic for a moment.  This school you have these two enrolled in… what is their view of herms? Chaotic crossed his arms and thought for a moment before answering. I don’t hear of too many people that talk about their gender. There could be many herms at the school for all I know. The policy at the school is no bullying what so ever. If a student is bullying someone they could be kicked out of the school. One thing that may be why there isn’t too much talk about herms is they could have their gender changed at a young age to male or female.

Irene looked to Zen and Black. You two should know, that kind of surgery is not an option for our family. A few members had tried to have their gender altered and wound up dying shortly after the surgery. It seems our bodies were meant to have both genders. Zen and Black both shook their heads and spoke in unison. We like our bodies just the way they are. Irene shook with laughter. That is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. She looked over to Chaotic. Do they do that often? Chaotic nodded. Ever since the second month of school started. It seems the more time they spend together, the more they seem to do things in unison.

The rest of the visit was spent talking about everything that had happened during the start of school. After a couple of hours of laughing and talking with her visitors Irene was starting to get tired. She was yawning frequently when Chaotic decided it was time for them to head back. It was 11AM by the time they said their goodbyes and were on their way back to the car. Zen had wanted to show their fireworks show to Irene. Chaotic had asked one of the nurses, but she turned down the idea. The young canine girl thought it would be too much excitement for the old wolf and the other residence of the retirement home.

Once the trio of wolves were back in the car, Chaotic turned to look at the pouting pups in the back seat. Don’t get too down you two. I’m sure you will get a chance to show her your routine sometime. Who know maybe she will be allowed to come visit us sometime. Both Zen and Black perked up at that idea. Chaotic continued, for now we have to get you two home and fed. We should get back just in time for lunch. With that said Chaotic pulled the car out of the parking lot. It would be about an hour drive home.

The moment Chaotic shut the car off in the driveway both Zen and Black bolted out of the car. They had sat and patiently waited the whole rid to the retirement home and the whole ride back. The two of them were now in an energetic mess and needed to blow off some steam. While Chaotic went inside to start lunch Zen and Black ran to the backyard to play. The two pups spent about thirty minutes chasing each other around the back yard. Occasionally they would tackle one another and roll around giggling. Anyone who didn’t know the two pups would think they were playing too rough.

After one last tackle to the ground they rolled for a bit before they both flopped onto their backs. The two pups lay there for a moment panting. Chaotic called out the back door to them to come inside for lunch. Chaotic shook his head as the two pups walked past him still panting. It always amazes me how hard the two of you play together. I mean being tackled to the ground like that hurts don’t it? Both Zen and Black looked to each other, then to Chaotic and shrugged. As they sat at the table Zen spoke. We aren’t that rough with each other. Black nodded. Yea I mean sure it can hurt if we didn’t roll after the fall but we are careful with each other. One of us normally breaks the fall by starting the roll just before he hit the ground. That’s probably why it looks like we are hitting so hard.

Chaotic shook his head as he sat down next to Ruby. I was asked by Mr. Hanson to talk to the two of you about your “rough playing” together. You two should let up a bit on the tackling. Some of the other cubs at school might start doing it too, and they could hurt each other. Both Zen and Black nodded. Zen spoke after swallowing a bite of food. We’ll stick to just chasing each other at school.

After lunch, Zen and Black had a short nap to let their food settle. Once they were rested the two pups joined Chaotic and Ruby in the living room for some movie time before they had to get ready. After a silly Halloween cartoon it was getting close to the time Zen had been waiting for all day. Since it was so close Ruby decided to let the pups get ready early. This would give her some time to get some good photos of them all dressed up.

Zen followed Black to their bedroom. Soon after the pups were sitting on their beds waiting for Ruby to bring their costumes in from where ever she had them hidden. Soon Ruby walked into the room holding two bags that had a hanger sticking out of the tops. Both bags looked exactly the same. Black stood and took one of the bags from Ruby with a smile. Zen gave a nervous gulp as he took the other bag from Ruby. She gave a smile and left the room to wait in the kitchen for the pups to change.

Just as Ruby sat down next to Chaotic she heard Zen howl. “ARE YOU KIDDING ME? WHAT THE HECK IS THIS? Chaotic looked at Ruby with an eyebrow raised. What is he so excited about? Ruby smiled and shook her head. You’ll just have to wait till he comes out here. It turned out to be a good thing they had started early. Zen was extremely slow at getting dressed. Bickering could be heard from the room as the two pups got ready.

Black finally opened the bedroom door. She huffed as she tried to push Zen out the door. Come on Zen it’s not that bad. You took so long getting dressed that we don’t have much time for Ruby to do our hair. Zen groaned as he was pushed out into the kitchen. Speak for yourself. I never wear this kind of stuff. Since Zen and Black took so long, Chaotic and Ruby both got into their costumes as well. What the two of them had chosen to for their costume was an Egyptian pharaoh and queen. Both costumes were extremely revealing. They were pretty much a loin cloth with a bunch of gold and chains and jewelry. Ruby of course had a top with her costume. The costume actually worked well with Chaotic’s twin swords Chaos and Disorder.

Chaotic’s mouth dropped when he saw what Zen was wearing. Zen stood next to the table blushing. Black had chosen for the two of them to wear maid’s outfits. Zen looked down and sighed. This is so embarrassing. I mean it’s so… so frilly. The outfit itself was simple. A skirt that went down to just above the knees. The blouse was a perfect fit for the outfit. There was a white pattern down the front and over the shoulders. The design itself looked to be a total custom made outfit. It was both adorable and at the same time could pass for sexy in the right situations.

Black pulled Zen over to where Ruby was sitting. There was a comb and some hair products sitting on the kitchen table waiting for them. Come on Zen we still have to have matching hair to finish our costumes. Zen sighed as he turned around so his back was facing Ruby. Styling the two pup’s hair was a simple matter. Their hair was the same length. Zen normally styled his hair in a way that made the ends curl out in points. Black kept her hair straight. Both pups now had their hair braded in a long pony tail. Instead of a head peace the two had ribbons tied on the backs of their heads and the ends of their pony tails.

Chaotic was shocked when Zen turned to face him. Just a little bit of styling and Zen looked like the cutest little girl. If Zen had decided to he could easily go around as a girl and no one would be the wiser. Once Black’s hair was done the two pups got their pumpkin buckets and stood side by side against one of the walls in the kitchen. It took a lot of coxing to get Zen to smile for some of the pictures. Eventually Zen went into the master bedroom to look at himself in the full body mirror. He gasped when he saw his reflection. After turning a couple of time he giggled. Wow I don’t even look like a boy anymore. If it weren’t so frilly I think, I could get to like this kind of stuff.

Chaotic leaned against the door frame and chuckled. Does this mean you want to start dressing like a girl now? Zen shrugged and turned to face Chaotic. I said I could get to like this stuff, that doesn’t mean I want to dress like this all the time. If anything I might have to get underwear like this. Boy’s undies kind of rub and make me a little uncomfortable. Black ran into the room and hugged Zen. With a giggle she spoke. And now you know the joys of silky panties.

Ruby called from the kitchen. Come on you three. We still have to meet with the Roberts before we start making our way around the neighborhood. As the storm family gathered in the kitchen to get ready to head out there was a knock on the door. Chaotic quickly went to answer the door and was met by Kain. The black bear cub was dressed in a black suet with a cape and some fake fangs. Behind Kain was his older brother dressed in a torn suit. It looked like there was torn flesh sticking out of some of the tears in the fabric. He was pretty well dressed up and made a convincing zombie.

Kain smiled and took his fake fangs out before speaking. Blah the plastic taste is terrible. Good evening Mr. Storm, are Zen and Black ready to go out yet. Chaotic chuckled and turned to look down the hall. Zen was peaking around the corner with a rather nervous look on his face. Chaotic turned back to Kain. Yes, the two of them are all set. If you don’t mind Ruby and I would like to get a few pictures of the three of you together in your costumes. He looked to Allen and smiled. Allen you are welcome to come inside if you want, we will be ready to go shortly.

Kain and Allen walked into the house and were shocked at how much bigger it looked on the inside. The two bears were lead to the kitchen. Kain looked around for a moment a little confused. Where are Zen and Black? Ruby chuckled. Well Zen went and hid in the master bedroom. Black is trying to drag him back out here. Kain chuckled for a moment. Why would Zen be hiding? Chaotic walked over to the table and sat down. Well Black chose the costumes this year. For Zen it’s not something he would ever really think about wearing.

There was a groan from down the hall. Oh this is so embarrassing. They are going to laugh at me. Zen’s voice was filled with worry. Black grunted as she pulled Zen into the kitchen. You don’t know that for sure. Now come one we have pictures to take before we can go out and get some candy. Black practically dragged Zen over to the wall that they were going to be taking the pictures in front of.

Kain and Allen both had their eyes wide and their mouths dropped open. Kain’s fake fangs even fell out. Z…Zen is that you. Kain’s voice was much softer than normal. Zen looked at Kain then to the ground. Yeah it’s me. Trust me this isn’t what I had in mind for a costume. Black chose it. Allen shook himself a little. How can a boy look like such a cute girl… I’ve never seen someone able to pull both off so well.

Zen looked at Black and took a deep breath. Well the thing is I’m not really a boy… or a girl. Kain tilted his head and looked really confused. If you’re not a boy or a girl, then what are you? Zen took another deep breath. Well it’s not something I really want to hide. That caused problems for me before. I’m what’s known as a hermaphrodite or a herm. I am both boy and girl.

Allen’s look of confusion vanished. Oh that makes sense now. Our mom was actually a herm. We weren’t born with both genders though. Kain was too young to remember her but I remember her well. There is a good chance that when we have kids that they will be herm. I guess it can skip generations or something. And before you go asking where our mom is, she passed away a year after Kain was born. It’s been Kain, dad and me ever since.

Kain was staring at Zen the whole time Allen spoke. Zen was getting a little nervous. Kain are you okay? I mean with me being a herm I mean. Black leaned on Zen’s shoulder. Don’t forget I’m also a herm. We are after all “identical” twins. Our fur color is the main thing that sets us apart right now. Kain shook his head. Sorry I didn’t mean to stare. It’s just not what I expected. I actually think it’s cool. I mean I’m always finding new things about you. Many things I really like. Kain trailed of and started blushing.

Zen blushed a little at Kain’s comment. Allen chuckled a little. Oh look its puppy love. Both Kain and Zen blushed bright red. It was a little harder to see when Kain was blushing. His ears were a dead giveaway. Both cubs fidgeted in embarrassment. Black finally spoke up. Come on now no teasing. Zen’s having a hard enough time with wearing a dress. Allen laughed a little before offering an apology.

Soon the three cubs were lined up and their pictures were taken. Allen was even put into the lineup for a few pictures. Once all the pictures were done the two adults and four cubs made their way outside. Allen offered to take Zen, Black and Kain around to the houses he knew for the best selection of candy. Chaotic and Ruby agreed to let Allen lead the way, however they would follow at a distance. After all this was Zen and Black’s first time trick or treating. If Zen were to get overwhelmed Chaotic and Ruby would be right, there to take him home.

As the four cubs started walking down the sidewalk Zen started asking a few questions. He fidgeted with his pumpkin bucket as he spoke. So um what do we have to do to um get candy. Kain and Allen looked at each other and laughed. Zen looked down in embarrassment. Come on guys I’ve never done this stuff before. Kain shook his head. Sorry for laughing. It’s really simple. All we have to do is say trick or treat. Black tilted her head. I get that the candy is the treat but what if they have a trick for us? Allen turned around and started walking backwards as he spoke. Most people I’ve run into don’t do tricks. Some might have something to scare kids, but they still give out candy. Last year there was a house that had some guy hiding in a box. He scared a little girl so bad that she started crying. He wound up taking his costume off and gave her a bunch of candy.

Zen gave a sigh of relief. I was worried we would have to do tricks or something. In this outfit it would be hard to do tricks without showing everyone my undies. Black chuckled and pet Zen on the shoulder. What’s the matter, don’t what others to see that you are wearing panties? Allen’s mouth dropped open and he almost tripped. W… why would he be wearing panties? Kain interrupted with a giggle. Aren’t panties girl’s undies?

Zen blushed and glared at Black. He then looked down and fidgeted with his bucket some more. Well the panties kind of went with the outfit. my regular underwear might have stuck out, well the waist band anyway. It’s not like they are pink or anything. They are still kind of girly though. light blue with white seams. Black leaned against Zen with a smile. Mine are pink with white seams. Same pattern as Zen’s.

Allen shook his head for a moment before turning to walk straight again. I think you two are sharing a little too much info about stuff you shouldn’t really share. Black tilted her head and shrugged. It’s not like we are showing you two or anything. I mean I’m not shy about my choice in undies. I know it’s not appropriate to show them though.

As the cubs were busy chatting Allen stopped in front of a rather well decorated house. Allen turned to the two wolf pups and his little brother. Alright this is our first stop. The couple in this house are really into the whole holiday traditions. Their house is always one of the best decorated in the neighborhood. Thanksgiving and Christmas are the next big holidays they decorate for.

The four cubs made their way to the door. Zen was fidgeting with his bucket again now nervous about meeting people for the first time. Kain reached up and rang to door bell. Instead of the normal chime of a bell there was a cackling laugh that rang through the house. After a few moments the door began to open. Zen froze stiff the moment the door started moving. He wore a look of fear as an old fox came out with a large black plastic caldron filled with candy. The old fox was dressed like a witch in all black with a pointy hat. She smiled as the Kain, Allen, and Black all said Trick or Treat at the same time. Zen just stood their frozen.

At first the old fox didn’t notice that Zen hadn’t said anything. She started handing out candy two pieces per cub starting with Allen. My what an impressive zombie we have. Next was Kain. And such a hansom vampire. Black was next followed by Zen. And what a cute pair of maids. When she got to Zen she noticed how scared he looked. Oh I’m sorry dear, is my costume too scary for you? Black looked at Zen then back to the old fox. No ma’am, this is our first time doing this sort of thing. Meeting new people is always tough for him.

The old fox tilted her head. Him? Isn’t this your twin sister? Black shook her head and smiled. No he is my brother. We played rock paper scissors to decide who chose our costumes this year. I won the game, that’s why he is in a maid’s outfit like me. The old fox clapped her hands together with a smile. Well that’s just splendid. Not many boys would be willing to put on a dress for Halloween.

There was a call from inside the house. Marla are you scaring them poor kids out there? Marla turned to look back inside the house. No Ben we just have a shy one out here. Another old fox came to the door with a smile. He wore a bulky plastic suit that made him look like a tin man. Zen shook his head for a moment. Sorry about spacing out. You just look like someone I’ve met before. Black scratched her chin. Now that you mention it she does look like Veronica from back in Spirit Creek.

Both Ben and Marla turned to one another. Well it seems you have met our daughter. Ben shook his head. I hope she didn’t go off the deep end again. She can be such a fussy little thing. Zen’s mouth dropped for a moment. He looked back and forth between the two foxes. Well we didn’t leave on the best terms with her. Ben crossed his arms making the plastic suite clank a little. Good terms or bad I’m sure she over reacted making the situation that much harder.

Marla looked back toward the street seeing Chaotic and Ruby both standing on the side walk. Oh it seems we have kept you kids too long. Your parents are looking a little worried. Zen looked back and nodded then he looked at Allen. We’d better get moving. You said there were a bunch of houses we were going to right? I will try to keep it together for the next ones. Allen nodded. The four cubs waved goodbye and said their thanks for the candy. They checked in with Chaotic and Ruby before they made their way to the next house.

The next few houses went much more smoothly. By the fifth house Zen didn’t tense up at all. After a few more houses the sound of clicking heals filled the air. The four cubs turned to the direction of the sound to see Sammy rushing toward them. She was in a ball gown with a crown on her head. Her costume was definitely some kind of princess.

When she finally reached the four surprised cubs she was out of breath. She panted for a bit before she caught her breath enough to speak. You have no idea how hard it is to move in this thing. Not to mention these dumb heals my mom insisted that I wear. I’ve been trying to catch up with you guys for a while now. Mind if I tag along? My mom is back talking to a few other adults that are out with their kids.

Allen smiled at Sammy and shook his head. As long as your parents don’t mind I don’t mind. Sammy squealed and giggled before turning to wave at her mother. After her mother waved back Sammy turned back to the group of cubs she had just joined. Alright I know Kain and Black. And I assume the older bear is Kain’s brother, but who is maid number two over here?

Kain chuckled before nodding. Yep this is my older brother Allen. As for our white furred maid, take a close look and see if you can guess who it is. Sammy stepped closer to Zen. She looked even more puzzled as she looked him over. You say this is someone I should know but I’ve never seen such a pretty girl around here. Zen blushed bright red and looked at the ground. Allen, Kain and Black all started giggling. Black pat Sammy on the shoulder. Come on Sammy you mean you can’t see the resemblance? Black then stood next to Zen and leaned against him.

After a moment Sammy looked around. Oh by the way where is Z… Sammy’s eyes went wide as she realized Zen was dressed like a maid. She looked at Black then back to Zen. How come he looks so good in that? I’ve seen boys dress as girls and they never look that good. Black shrugged. Well we are “identical” twins. His cloths fit me and my cloths fit him. As for why he is dressed like this. We had a bet and I won.

Sammy still didn’t look too convinced. She put her left hand on her hip and pointed with her right hand. Look I’ve seen twins pull this kind of stuff. They never fooled me. Now why is it that Zen can pass for a girl so well? Zen looked Sammy in the eyes. He took a deep breath before explaining things. Well the truth is I’m a hermaphrodite and so is Black. If I had wanted to I could have started school in girl’s clothes and no one would know the difference. I can pass for a girl because I’m at least half female. I consider myself more male than female though. That is why I wear boy’s cloths. Black considers herself female and chooses to wear girl’s clothes. It’s as simple as that.

Sammy took a moment to proses what she had just been told. Th… that means you two are like me. I’ve never met another herm before let alone twins. Sammy looked over at Kain and Allen and covered her mouth. Oh no I’m not supposed to tell anyone. Kain shook his head. If it’s a secret, then your secret is safe with us. Sammy looked around as Allen, Zen and Black nodded in agreement. Her eyes welled up with tears as she started crying.

Sammy’s mother rushed over along with Chaotic and Ruby. The large lioness knelt next to her daughter and started petting the back of her head. Sammy dear what’s wrong? Zen stepped forward clutching his clothes. I… I told her that Black and I are hermaphrodites. She was so surprised that she said she had never met other hermaphrodites. She said she wasn’t supposed to tell anyone. When we said we wouldn’t tell anyone she started crying.

Sammy’s mother looked shocked as she looked Zen and Black over. She then looked over at Chaotic with a confused look on her face. Is it normal for your children to lie about their gender? Chaotic crossed his arms as he sighed. Well first off the two of them are both hermaphrodites. If you didn’t know before I’ll tell you now. Zen and Black are not my biological children. I adopted the two of them. Apparently most if not all the cubs born of Zen’s blood line are born herm.

Sammy’s mother stood up straight and crossed her arms. She glared at Chaotic. You expect me to believe these two are both hermaphrodites? How can I believe that? Sammy grabbed her mother’s arm and wiped the tears from her eyes. Mommy, Zen didn’t lie. I was scared you would get mad at me. That’s why I was crying. And I don’t think they are lying about Zen and Black being herm either. I mean Zen normally is dressed like a boy, but now he looks like a girl. I don’t know any other boys that can pull that off.

Ruby stood silent through the whole exchange. She knew if she opened her mouth she would only cause more problems. Zen looked at her a little confused. Mom are you okay? You are more quiet than I would have thought you would be. Ruby smiled and knelt next to Zen. Well Zen to be honest my mouth gets me into trouble a lot of times. Tonight I didn’t want to start a big fight with your friend’s mother so I kept it shut. Chaotic keeps his cool a lot better than I can when it comes to you and Black.

Sammy’s mother straightened her clothes a little. I’m sorry for going off like that. My daughter has been teased about her gender ever since she started attending preschool. It got to the point where we had to move. I was so worried that maybe something had slipped out or she had said something that hinted. I just don’t think we could take another situation like that. She looked around for a moment. You know I just realized that I didn’t tell you my name. I think we were in the middle of introductions when I spotted Sammy crying. My name is Sarah Porter, again I’m sorry for all the trouble tonight.

Ruby walked over to Sarah and extended a hand. I’m Ruby Singer and the fireball over there is Chaotic Storm. Sarah shook Ruby’s hand then Chaotic’s. Ruby continued the introductions. Our white furred pup over here is Zen. His dark furred sister is ironically named Black. The two of them are twins as you can see. If their fur color was the same, you would never tell the two of them apart. Moving on to the two bears in our little group of cubs. Kain is the younger of the two and is also in the same class as our cubs. His older brother is Allen. He also goes to the same school.

Zen walked over to Black and whispered something in her ear. When he pulled away she gave a devilish grin before whispering something back to him. The two of them set their pumpkin buckets on the grass next to the sidewalk and cleared their throats. They both were grinning ear to ear as they spoke in unison. Let’s play a game. This game is called guess the twin. Sammy giggled. That’s an easy game. She pointed at Zen. Your Zen and she is Black.

The two wolf pups both grinned. Correct now on to round two. The two of them grabbed each other’s hands and started to spin. They went around and around faster and faster until they were a blur. When they stopped both pups had jet black fur. Chaotic’s jaw nearly hit the floor. Now both pups looked exactly the same in every way. Both pups stood back to back with their arms crossed. Now guess the twin oh and no using magic to help that’s cheating.

For a while the other cubs just walked around Zen and Black trying to spot any differences. Sammy finally gave up and walked over to her mother. Chaotic scratched his chin. I have a question. Why didn’t the two of you choose to turn both of your fur white. The two of them stood side by side and held hands. The both shared the same grin as their fur turned white starting from the palms of their hands that they held and spread across their both their bodies until they both were pure white. With a grin they both spoke. Is that better dad? Can we hurry this along? We can’t keep our fur this way for much longer.

Kain finally stepped forward. There is only one way to tell who is who. He reached out and grabbed both pup’s skirts and flipped the front up. Sure enough there was the only difference between the two of them pink and blue panties. Zen’s in the blue ones and Black is wearing pink. Both Zen and Black started laughing as Black’s fur turned back to normal. Luckily there was no one walking by when Kain revealed the difference in the two.

Sarah crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow. And how may I ask did you know what color their under garments were? Black was still giggling as she tried to answer. I told him. I did it as a tease to Zen. I’m just surprised he remembered. Sarah turned her attention to Chaotic once again. I thought you said the two of them are hermaphrodites. What I just saw looked like two girls. Zen stopped laughing and walked over to Sarah. You know you could ask us about it. You keep talking to dad as if Black and I weren’t here. If you really gotta know our boy parts are hidden away on the inside. If I wanted to I could go into the girl’s restroom naked and they would think, I was a girl. I know a lot more about my body now. I read a lot of books from the library. The only way anyone would see my boy bits is if I had something called an ere um what was the word. Erec something.

Chaotic chuckled. Zen I think we get what you mean. You don’t need to say it. Zen looked at Chaotic then at the ground. Sorry, it’s just upsetting being talked about like that. Black and I are the same inside and out. Our only difference is our fur color. Sarah put one and on Zen’s shoulder. I’m sorry I upset you. It was insensitive of me to ask such a question to bluntly.

Allen cleared his throat. Well this has been fun and all, but could we get back to trick or treating? There is a dance at an old farm on the edge of town I want to go to. The adults told the cubs to go on ahead so they could talk a bit more. After Zen and Black retrieved their buckets from the grass the group of cubs made their way to the next house. There was idle chit chat amongst the cubs between each house.

In no time at all the five cubs had their buckets full of candy. During the last few houses the cubs had decided to ask their parents if they could all go to the farm yard dance. With a little coxing Chaotic and Ruby agreed to let Zen and Black go. Sarah had no objections to letting Sammy go since the three adults would be there too.  Sarah offered to drive since she had a large van that seated eight.

After dropping off their buckets of candy at each of their houses the group made their way to Sarah’s van. Once everyone was seated and buckled in, it was off to the farm. Once they arrived at the farm it was clear they would have to park a few blocks down the road. Zen was a little nervous about being around so many people. Being with his friends helped easy his mind a little.

Once the van doors were open music could be heard. After a short walk the group of adults and cubs arrived at the barnyard where a large crowd was gathered. People of all ages stood around talking, eating, or drinking. The dance floor was empty for the most part. A few teens were swaying to the beat a little on the outer edge of the dance floor. Other that the teens no one was out there dancing.

Zen looked around confused for a moment before pulling Chaotic’s arm to have him bend over to hear over the music. I thought this was some kind of dance. Why is there no one out there dancing? Chaotic shrugged. Maybe they are all too shy to dance. Zen giggled a little. Why would they come to a dance if they are too shy to dance? Ruby kneeled next to Zen with a smile. Some people just want to get out and be around other people. Zen crossed his arms for a moment. Well I think it would be fun to dance. Even if it’s a little scary with all these people.

Zen waited for a bit listening to the various songs that were played. It was clear that most of the songs being played were rather fast. Zen wanted a slow song to dance to. With a quick exchange of looks and grins between Black and Zen, Black made her way over to the DJ to try and request some slower songs. Shortly after Black walked away, Zen approached Kain. Once he was close enough Zen leaned in close to Kain so that he could be heard. Alright Kain, how about we go out there and dance a little?

Kain was surprised that he was asked to dance. He felt uneasy about dancing in general. After all he had never danced with anyone. I don’t know Zen; I’ve never done this sort of thing before. And besides we are both boys. Last time I checked boys don’t dance with other boys. Zen giggled for a moment. That’s silly what does it matter if we are boys, girls or both. And if you want to get technical I’m not a boy I’m a herm. Also do I really look like a boy right now? Kain shrugged then let out a sigh. Alright, alright just lead the way already.

Zen led Kain to the edge of the dance floor then stopped. Kain nearly ran into Zen. Hey why did you stop. I thought we were going out there to dance. Zen pointed at the DJ’s table where Black was talking with a man with what looked like a giant bolt sticking out of the side of his head. After the two were done talking the man did something to a computer that was on the table. Black turned to Zen and waved. Her smile told Zen everything he needed to know. We are waiting for a better song to dance to. Black just asked the guy up there to play something slower.

After what felt like forever to Kain a much slower song started playing. It was an old song that he had heard before but didn’t know the name of it. As soon as the song started playing Zen pulled Kain’s arm. Once the two cubs were on the dance floor Zen turned to face Kain. Kain wore a somewhat shocked look on his face. Kind of like a deer in the headlights look. Zen giggled a little before getting closer to Kain. Come on this is going to be easy. Just put your hands on my hips and I’ll put mine on your shoulders. Then we just step in circles. Don’t you ever watch movies with slow dances in them?

Kain did as he was told and in no time the two of them were dancing. For the most part it was easy for the two of them. Kain’s hands were still shaky as he turned slowly with Zen. The two cubs looked like the perfect couple out on the dance floor. Many other couples had joined them on the dance floor. Zen looked at Kain and could see he was having trouble keeping himself calm. He was having stage fright and was staring off into space.

Zen leaned in close and whispered in Kain’s ear. Take a look around. We are not the center of attention out here. There are plenty of others out on this dance floor. With that said Zen slid his hands down to Kain’s chest and leaned his head against Kain’s shoulder. For a moment Kain froze. After a few moments though Zen’s action had the desired effect. He could feel himself calming down. Soon he had Zen wrapped in a gentle hug.

At the edge of the dance floor Black had joined Chaotic, Ruby, Sarah and Sammy. Allen had wondered off with a girl he apparently knew. Black looked up at Chaotic and Ruby with a smile. When are you two going out there to dance? Zen took the lead and got this thing started. Chaotic chuckled. We’ll wait to make sure he is okay after dancing out there.

For a moment Black looked around trying to decide who she wanted to dance with. She had almost given up when she saw two familiar faces. Chaise and Alex Williams were both on the other side of the dance floor. It took her no time at all to come up with a plan to get Chaise away from Alex. She would wait until she had Zen for backup.

Zen’s dance with Kain had come to an end as a new slightly faster song started playing. The two cubs made their way back to the adults. Both of them had smiles on their faces. Kain looked rather embarrassed but happy. Before Black could get Zen’s attention he grabbed Sammy’s hand and asked her to dance. Chaotic chuckled seeing Zen in an overly excited state. Normally Zen was quiet and extremely shy. Perhaps the fact that not many people recognized him. Even people he knew may not recognize him. Maybe this gave him a little bravery.

Black decided she would be patient. Zen rarely showed this side of himself. She watched as Sammy was practically dragged out on the dance floor. Sammy seemed just as bad as Kain when it came to being on the dance floor. Zen smiled at her as he leaned in close. Just do whatever feels natural. This song is too fast to dance the way Kain and I danced. Let’s just move around to the beat. The two of them took a moment to get in sync with each other and the music. They giggled at each other as they picked things up moving back and forth, and side to side. It might not have been the best dance moves out there, but it was a rather cute display.

Chaotic turned to Ruby with a grin. Do you like fast songs or slow songs? Ruby flashed a grin right back. Well fire butt that all depends on the song. I’ll dance to just about anything. Now the type of dance I do will change depending on the song. Chaotic chuckled and pulled Ruby close. We can go make fools of ourselves with the next song. Ruby gave Chaotic a quick kiss before backing away and bowing. Anything for the pharaoh.

Sarah chuckled at the couple in front of her. Oh how I wish my husband would dress up for Halloween. He can be such a stick in the mud. Always so serious about everything. Chaotic and Ruby both turned to the lioness with a grin. The two of us are a couple of goofs. We have plenty in common. Chaotic shrugged with a sigh. I wish I would have asked you out when I first moved to Spirit Creek. We would have had an easier time with Zen when he and Black first arrived.

As the adults kept talking, the song Zen and Sammy were dancing to started winding down. Before the song had ended the two cubs made their way back to their group. Sammy went right up to her mother with a groan. Can I get my other shoes out of the van? These heels are killing my feet. Sarah chuckled. Of course honey let’s go right away. Kain could you come with us. We have bottles of water in the back of the van to drink. I never trust the drinks they have at these dances. Kain nodded as he followed the two out of the barnyard.

Now Black had her chance to set her plan in motion. She grabbed Zen and started whispering in his ear. Zen flashed a grin. Alright I’ll give it a try. Where are they? Black pointed to the two mice standing next to the dance floor. They had apparently no idea that Zen and Black were present. Zen chuckled for a moment. Alright you lead the way. Operation mouse trap is a go. Chaotic raised an eyebrow in question. What are you two up too? The two pups both grinned mischievously and spoke in unison. We’re up to trouble of course. Black started walking around the right side of the dance floor while Zen went around the left.

Chaotic looked at Ruby and sighed. We might want to hold off on our dance. Those two are planning something. Ruby nodded. I think I have an idea of what they are up to. She pointed at the two mice across from them. Operation mouse trap huh. Let’s just see how this plays out. It took the two pups a little while to make their way through the crowd. When they were finally on the other side of the dance floor Chaotic had to chuckle. The two looked like hunters ready to pounce on their prey.

Black made the first move. She tapped Chaise’s shoulder and asked him to come dance with her. Before she really got any kind of answer from the mouse though, she dragged him to one end of the dance floor away from Alex. As soon as Alex started to protest and follow after Chaise, Zen made his move. Zen grabbed Alex by the hand with a smile. Come dance with me Alex. It’ll be fun. Soon Zen and Alex were on the opposite end of the dance floor from Chaise and Black. Luckily the song that started playing was a slow one.

Chaise and Black started dancing in an awkward silence. After a few more moments Chaise finally spoke. Um why did you want to dance with me? I’m not much of a dancer. Black chuckled. You looked board. And before you go worrying about Alex, Zen has him covered. Chaise’s eyes went wide for a moment. That will never happen. Alex is afraid of Zen. Black smiled devilishly. He might if he didn’t recognize Zen.

On the opposite side of the dance floor Alex was staring at Zen confused. Finally, he spoke still unsure of what he was seeing. I’ve seen you somewhere before haven’t I? Zen chuckled. Yes, we have definitely met many times before. There is a lot about me you don’t know. I’ll get straight to the point here. Black wanted to dance with Chaise. She knew you would never let him leave your side with her. That’s why I asked you to dance with me. Alex still looked confused for a moment. Once his look of confusion faded he looked rather angry.

Why would a boy ask another boy to dance Alex asked with a growl? Zen giggled for a moment. Any other day I and the thought would have never crossed my mind, trust me. I know you don’t like me. That’s fine, I can deal with that. I knew from the start that I would need to work for any kind of acceptance at school. My power makes me strange to others. If I were being perfectly honest, I think it’s strange when someone accepts me right off the bat. Kain surprised me in many ways. He has been a good friend at school. I even danced with him earlier. Oh and if you’re wondering why I’m dressed like this, I lost a bet. You can blame Black for choosing this costume.

Alex waited patiently for Zen to finish speaking. Once Zen was done speaking Alex sighed. You’re right I don’t really like you. Your power freaks me out. Alex blushed a little. This may be odd coming from another boy but… that costume looks like a perfect fit for you. I would never guess you were really a boy. Zen giggled then grinned at Alex. What if I told you I was both boy and girl? Alex raised an eyebrow. Are you telling me you’re a herm? Zen looked surprised. So you know what a herm is. That makes things easier. I’m actually planning on telling the others at school sometime soon.

Black chuckled as Chaise told her a few things about himself. Yea, I’ve always been shy around others. I tend to follow Alex most of the time. We don’t always see eye to eye but he is the closes family member I know. Our family specializes in sensory magic. I guess that’s why Zen’s power scared the two of us so badly. Black sighed and shook her head. That was mostly my fault. I should have never told Zen to show his power to everyone. Chaise nodded in agreement. That might be true, but Alex didn’t need to react the way he did.

The four cubs didn’t even notice that a new song had started playing. Their conversation kept them distracted. Chaotic gave a sigh. Well looks like everything is going okay. They are too distracted with talking to notice that another song is playing. Let’s go join them on the dance floor. As Chaotic and Ruby made their way onto the dance floor, Kain had decided to ask Sammy to dance as well. Within moments the only one left on the side of the dance floor was Sarah. Allen was still nowhere to be found. He had wondered off somewhere with a girl shortly after arriving at the barnyard.

When the second song finally ended Zen took a step back from Alex and did a little curtsy. With a giggle he thanked Alex for dancing and made his way back to Sarah. Alex stood there for a moment. He had just danced with someone he feared most at school. Black had also curtsied when she thanked Chaise for dancing. The two of them giggled a bit before going their separate ways. Once Zen and Black got back to Sarah she offered the two of them some water. They both accepted a bottle and shared it. Kain and Sammy both had their own bottles of water. Once they were off the dance floor they both took a quick drink.

The song that was playing now was a rather fast one. Chaotic and Ruby were both still on the dance floor. They both looked rather silly being the only ones on brave enough to dance to the song. Zen and Black both took a quick drink then ran out on the dance floor together. They jumped, spun and twirled each other around giggling as they did. Chaotic chuckled as he looked over to see Zen and Black. Looks like those two are trying to show us up. Ruby grinned. Well we can’t have that can we.

Chaotic started swinging Ruby every so often. They hadn’t done this sort of dance before so they didn’t go too crazy. Zen saw Chaotic swing Ruby between his legs and launch her into the air. She didn’t go very high but Zen though it looked fun. Zen tried to do the same with Black. Black went much higher than Ruby had. When Black came back down Zen caught her hand and she swung back between his legs. With the momentum she had, Black caused Zen to do a flip. The two were then standing in an arch with their hands clasped. Once they were both upright again they continued their dance as if nothing had happened.

Once the song had ended, Chaotic, Ruby, Zen and Black all returned to where Sarah was standing. Sammy and Kain were sitting on a nearby bench. The two of them looked like they were falling asleep. Allen came walking over and chuckled at Kain. Looks like he’s all tuckered out. Without a word Zen walked over to Kain and picked him up piggyback. Come on sleepy head. You can sleep when you’re in your bed. Chaotic walked over and picked Sammy up. I think this is as good of a time as any to call it a night. Ruby walked over to Zen and pet him on the head. You sure you don’t want me to take him? Zen shook his head. I’ll be fine. He is light as a feather.

It didn’t take long for the group to make their way to the van. Once everyone was buckled in and the doors were closed Sarah turned around to look at everyone. Well I hope you all had a good time. Hopefully next year I can convince my husband to at least go to the dance. It looked like a lot of fun. Kain and Sammy had pretty much passed out as soon as they were buckled in. Allen looked like he was not far behind them. Zen and Black were the only two cubs that didn’t seem all that tired. Zen smiled at Sarah. This whole thing was great. I think we all had fun.

Sarah gave Zen a friendly smile before turning to face forward and start the van. Soon she pulled the van onto the road and started heading home. The ride home was a relatively quiet one. By the time they reached the street the Storm and Robert’s families lived on, Zen and Black had begun to yawn. The quiet time in the van had been all that was needed to bring them down from the rush they had from dancing.

Once the van was parked outside the Storm families house, Allen hopped out and stretched. He unbuckled Kain’s seat belt and carefully picked him up piggyback. He turned to look back into the van. Thank you for giving us a ride to the dance Ms. Porter. I’m sure Kain here had a blast. He is rarely this tired this early. Sarah smiled at Allen. You’re very welcome Allen. Have a good night. Allen nodded before crossing the street to his house.

Zen and Black were a little slow at climbing out of the van. Once they were out they stretched raising their hands above their heads with a groan. Once they finished stretching they turned and waved in unison. Thank you for the ride Ms. Porter. We had so much fun tonight. Sarah laughed for a moment. You two are so cute when you speak at the same time like that. Maybe sometime the two of you can come visit Sammy for the weekend. She doesn’t have many friends come over. Mostly because we are afraid they will find out her “gender”. Zen giggled. That sounds like a great idea.

Chaotic and Ruby both exchanged looks as they got out of the van. We will have to see how he does. Zen has some pretty intense nightmares sometimes. As soon as Chaotic was out of the van completely he pet Zen’s head. I’m not saying it’s a bad idea to have the two of them over. I just want you to be aware of the possibility that he might wake you up. Black can normally calm him down after an episode. Zen looked up at Chaotic with a smile. As long as I sleep with Black next to me I should be fine. Chaotic sighed and nodded. I know that works most times. But we don’t know how you will do in an unfamiliar house.

Sarah shrugged. I’m sure I can handle a little nightmare. Besides we live close enough that I could always run the two of them home. Black shook her head for a moment. If we do stay the night and Zen does have a nightmare I recommend you not go near the two of us. I can handle most of what Zen does when he is scared. Dad has some things he can’t even handle that I can. Chaotic nodded. If you ever see Zen’s fur standing on end don’t touch him or you’ll be in for a shock. Sarah raised an eyebrow. What do you mean? Black giggled. Think of it this way. It will feel like you stuck you hand in a light socket.

Zen yawned and rubbed his eyes. I think we should save this for a better time. It’s late and I’m getting sleepy. Sarah nodded. Alright maybe we can talk more over lunch or something. Chaotic and Ruby both nodded. We should definitely talk more about this. We should have your husband involved too so he is aware of what could happen. You could always stop by tomorrow if you want. Sarah nodded with a smile. Sounds like a plan. I’ll have to see what Michel has planned. If anything I will stop by just to chat a bit. Being a stay at home mom can get boring.

The Storm family waved as Sarah drove away.  Chaotic turned to face Zen and Black. Alright you two let’s make something quick to eat before you take your showers. Zen and Black both nodded and followed Chaotic and Ruby into the house.  Once inside the two of them got out of their costumes and into some old shirts that Chaotic had given them for night time. After some grilled cheese and ham with some soup the two pups were off to the shower.

It took a little longer to get ready for their shower tonight. Taking the braided ponytails out took a while. Once they were out and their hair was combed straight again the two of them hopped in the shower. They were quick to scrub each other’s back and their own fronts before rinsing off and hopping into the fur drying. As soon as their fur and hair was dry they took turns combing their fur and hair to make sure it was free of knots before dressing and heading to the kitchen to say goodnight.

After hugs and kisses Zen and Black went back to their room. They both climbed into Zen’s bed and were quick to fall asleep. Chaotic peaked into the room a short time later and smiled. The two of them were fast asleep in each other’s arms. After checking the front and back door Chaotic made his way back to the master bedroom where Ruby was waiting in bed. They were both asleep. We should do the same. I’m sure Sarah will have a lot to talk about tomorrow. Once Chaotic shut the lights off and got into bed he and Ruby fell asleep. The day had taken a lot out of everyone it seemed.
