Well, one week left before the end.
Fun how I used to hate it, and event though I've been reading it since 2010, it still feels so early for the end.

BUT YEAH

MY GIRL ROXY HERE
bc she's the best for real

I always loved Roxy's god tier design~ Good mix of colours imo, her bright blonde hair always looked striking with the dark blue costume and the mask. c:

Well, I mean, her canon hair is white (so is half of the kids' hair colour), but I really do think blue suits her!

The creators just got really really fed up with it. Cant understand why though.
Never understood ppl who create a successful franchise and then get annoyed by it and want to kill it off. Reminds me of Terraria.

Uh
it's not actually dead or anything
really alive as of late, actually.
Just the story's almost over.

The story had an end planned form the very beginning. it just took him a long time to get to that point. he pretty much said hes going to end it and be done and leave it as he envisioned it.

I think it's the best way to do something!
Having it have a definitive end, instead of forcing it to stay alive (see: MANY cartoon shows...)
I'm pretty excited to see how it'll end!

Thing is, if you have read just a tenth of homestuck, i do not need to explain how rushed this ending is.
The story was always a never ending bundle of sidestories which sprouted exactly whenever and wherever a conclusion should have been. Any form of conclusion in the story was always just a reason for yet another new start, yet another layer, yet another reason to continue the story. The ending of it all in comparison is the nadir of everything homestuck was/is. The literal polar opposite.
Its pretty much like: "And then the protagonists killed all antagonists. The end".

Im not gonna say anything negative about it, hell im not even saying its bad to have an encompassing conclusion to it. Its just the fact that you can feel that the creator is fed up with it and wants to kill it off.
At least he is killing it off with style, but... meh... reminds me on mass effect 3's last 10 minutes. "and then we couldnt bother to write a proper ending so take this conclusion and pick a colour for the explosions".

I.. read all of it, actually?

And I don't think it's rushed?

Homestuck has always followed a pretty videogame-like tone.

When you get towards the end, you get strong enemies, but you're also stronger, making them possible to defeat. They've been working up to fighting against the "bosses", gained levels, learned skills, etc... to be able to defeat them.  And I personally really like that aspect of it.  It felt like the whole thing about it being a game was set aside for a long time, so I'm happy to see it back.

There are still updates left, and the final one is probably going to be huge.

I'm way behind on that series.  I guess I should probably catch up while I can.

When you think about it, though- how many artists have the energy to stick with something that fricking long? I mean, as it is now two of my favorite reads (Snarlbear and Last Halloween) are ending already after a comparatively few entries and two others (Black Brick Road of Oz and Fey Winds) hardly update at all anymore.

All things considered, Hussie did pretty damn well sticking with it this long and keeping continuity across multiple events, characters, and incarnations of characters even.

Seeing as it's ending soon, you've got forever to catch up ;)

I think, in the case of Homestuck, the fact that fans actually helped in the creation (music, some panels, some parts of the animations) might be one of the reasons that allowed it to last for so long!

The continuity, with all the sessions and versions of characters and all, is very impressive imo!

I got through ti...though sometimes I skim the dialogue when they get long winded and ranty...
Saucy

you might have trouble understanding things later on, then.
A lot of the dialogue turns out being important.

DAMNIT it still took me an entire 24 hours to get where I am, and I can'[t remember all that dialogue anyway. Why I decided to just skip parts of it.
Saucy

Homestuck really isn't easy.
I had to start over 5 times before I started getting the hang of it, because I would get lost and/or confused.
CeilYurei

I won't remember anyway. Not all of it, already forgotten most of what exactly happened so far.
