Character Sheet for Hirudanius
Character Description
Hirudanius is a species of leach like organism that characteristicly feeds off the blood of mammals and lay their eggs inside their host.
the two best known types of Hirudanius are the ripsaw leach that is fully aquatic and the rock leach that is mostly terrestrial in its adult form.
Personality
Ripsaw leach:
with its sensitive front filaments it finds its hosts by detecting trace ammounts of urine in the surrounding water it inhabits. it uses this to pinpoint a ponential host's genitalia, and can acurately distinguish betwean genders and ages.
a ripsaw leach infestation is almost always fatal if left untreated.
Rock leack:
a nocturnal stalker that can be found hiding in dark damp enviroments during the day and stealthily roaming about at night. it can unleash a stream of liquid from its mandables as well as inject it with its adapted fang like palps. the venom spray causes drowsyness and loss of conciousness long enough for the rockleach to drink its fill and deposit its eggs. the venom is expensive for it to produce though so it preferes hosts that are allready asleep. it has been known to use its venom in self defence when it feels thretened.
rock leach infestation is nonlethal if untreated and often goes unoticed till the larva leave the host.
Likes/Dislikes
Hirudanius tend to favor water with higher amonia concentration making them well adapted for living in sewers.
Phenothrin is extremely effective in killing adult Hirudanius, methoprene kills off the eggs.
Background/History
even though they are more closely related to ticks than leeches, their apperance earnes them names like worms and leaches.
they are an invasive species that inadvertently spread with the drohg as they colonize new planets. thanks to their similar needs hirudanius thrive in their new enviroments often driving mammal species to extinction in some areas.
Relatives/Family
There are several subspecies of hirudanius and ever more variations develop from being so wide spread in diferent enviroments.
World/Setting
they inhabit many worlds being an interplanetary pest species but are usually only found on planets colonized by drohg.
Body
they characteristicly have flexible carapaced bodies, the terestrial variety being slightly harder than their aquatic cousins.
