I will say this: The music fits perfectly with the vocals...

But 6 versions of "Night of Fear" (so far)? Oy... :o

Indeed-- Goes much further back than that-- At least back to the height of early jazz, if not further. (I'm thinking the likes of Paul Whiteman in the late '20s/early '30s, although classical motifs in popular music can be heard on old wax cylinders of the late 19th Century...) Jazz is rife with classical homage! :) Even early R&B/Rock & Roll frequently used the classics for melody- especially in Doo-Wop. :)

And let's not forget Roy can play several instruments!

So is Jeff. ;)

(He did most of the instrumentation for Long Wave, much like he did in his Idle Race and Move days... And both Roy's and Jeff's multi-instrumental skills had been used to their fullest on the first ELO album.)

True, especially "10538". Roy played all 15 cello parts.
