An Open Realm
Chapter 2 - A New World
Milo could feel the grass beneath him, the cool breeze blew against his face gently, it was all so peaceful.
He lay there for awhile just thinking about how calm and relaxed he felt, he didn’t have a care or worry in the world.
But Milo knew this dream had to end sooner or later, he slowly began to open his eyes expecting to see his dull bedroom.
He blinked in surprise and quickly moved his glasses to rub his eyes just to double check what he was seeing. Milo gasped as he sat under a clear blue sky, he got up, slowly raising from the grassy hill he was on, looked around and saw more grassy hills along with dense looking forest on the horizon. “A-Am I dreaming?” he thought for a moment “N-No way, this has to be dream!” Milo decided that while he was dreaming he might as well take a look around.
He wandered up and down the hills, trying to see anything else. Milo soon spotted a lake not far from the forest, but he was very curious about what hid in the trees, so he made his way over.
Entering the first line of thick trees he gazed around, it looked huge! Milo continued walking, soon he heard the sound of twittering and singing from birds, high up in the trees and the sound of tiny footprints scamping around the forest floor.
It felt all so real to him.
As Milo kept walking the forest suddenly went very quiet. no more sound, no birds, no animals, nothing, It was all very unnerving, but he kept moving on, feeling like he was getting lost with every step he took.
Suddenly he heard a growl from the darkness, he stopped in his tracks, looking for where the noise came from when out of nowhere a large brown bear walked out from the bushes.
Milo froze on the spot upon seeing it. The bear turned, looking Milo in the eyes, it licked its lips. Milo shivered but tried to shake off the feeling of terror “Come on, it's only a dream,” he said to himself. He started walking past the bear, it was his dream and so naturally he was in charge, or so he thought.
As he got closer the bear stood up on its hind legs still growling, Milo felt a bit intimidated but it wouldn’t stop him. “It’s only a dream” he kept repeating to himself. When Milo was close enough, the bear let out a fearsome roar, Milo backed up in surprise but too late, the bear brought down it’s paw, it just caught Milo’s arm it ripped through his blazer and cut deeply into his skin, he let out a pained cry and fell from the sheer force of the bear’s swing.
His eyes widened in fear it hurt so much, his wound bleed and at this moment he realised this wasn’t a dream, this was real and worst of all, he was going to die.
