it is a very very old book with unknown use, inside the pages lives a very old tentacle creature that was a very unique creature born from magic and fed by fluids and living beings emotions, but it was forgotten a long time ago in a very old library and the creature was slowly withering away, which explains the wrinkles, dry leathery skin, and the jittering and shakes im its tentacles, it has grown weak and slow from lack of contact with some one.
