I had the urge to do a traditional color one of my art pieces, and thought of this piece, which was begging to be colored. So I made a printout of the lines (so I wouldn't mess up the original).

I was originally thinking of coloring it with color pencils, but while looking for my new pencils, I came across my oil pastels, and decided to try coloring with pastels instead. It has actually been years since I last tried using oil pastels, FIVE AND A HALF years to be accurate!

My last attempt ended up looking really blobby, so I tried something different this time. I put some color down, and then used a smudge stick to rub it into the paper and smooth it out a little. It worked out.. okay, I suppose. Not great, but not terrible either. The smudge stick seemed to be pretty good at mixing two colors to be more consistent, like with his mane and tail, (though it didn't work too well on the yoke)

Meh.. at least it is better than my last attempt...

I really wanna get a light box so I could make clean, ink versions of my art! This piece definitely deserves a clean, ink version, and traditional color, on a high-grade card-stalk paper!
Then, perhaps if I can start getting better at doing commissions, I could do some traditional inks and colors that would be able to be sent through the mail to the commissioner, so they could have an original! The original sketches of coarse wouldn't be able to be sent, since I typically sketch in my hard-bound sketchbook, but I could include the printout of it. Though, perhaps the commissioner would be able to request the original sketch to be on a separate paper, so they could have that original as well. I guess I will just figure that detail out if and when I get to that point. I don't even have the light box at this point!

...Just came back from ebay... I got a light box... even though I can't really afford it...

Oh well! XP
I guess I just have to get on my commissions, so I can get new commissions to pay for it!

Although I'm not sure I should have inking available just yet, so I can practice with it first... I donno, we'll see.
I guess I should get some card-stalk paper the next time I go to the city? ^^

I suppose this means I'll have to re-evaluate my commission prices and figure out inking price, and traditional color, and of coarse shipping if it is wanted...
Hmmm....

Whelp, I'll think on it latter. Probably try it out a couple times and think of a price that way?

For something so simple, impressive muscles. A good day for an assman.
