I would think the tail gets redder in color for each tail added. Interesting that you have the color suddenly there once a second tail sprouts.
Well, it's one option :D what I had in mind for these (they are for a Pokémon Forum, so we have the rules about this there) is just leveling up and new tail appears (all tails shine like it was evolving and the new one appears).
The other option is like you say, with a day-by-day growing process :3 I did it the other way~ but both options are good! I just saw more logic the shinning one since everything that happens in Pokémon is with shines lol... even eggs hatching in the anime (in the games they hatch at least XD it's something).
When a Pokémon levels up we make them shine and grow a little bit, this tails thing would be the same in this case :D
