And kill like.. 6 kids, but that's a different story :V

Well, he doesn't WANT to do that. He just feels obligated to. So he won't disappoint all the other monsters of the underground.
Saucy

That still doesn't change his choice to kill children, out of spite against humanity.
In all, I can't dislike him, but his actions can't really be changed.  Of course, he isn't all bad, seeing as he deeply regrets it in the end.

I believe, that he can be a better person!! Even if he doesn't think that!

Was it ever confirmed that all of the six humans were kids? Just wondering.

If anything, I would suspect the Yellow heart of being an adult, since the gun is real, just empty. Perhaps an adult who came armed to avenge the vanished children, and ran out of ammo.

...However, there's the fact that all the coffins are the same length...
Saucy

Yeah the coffins being the same size what makes me guess they were all kids

To be honest, i didn´t take that as a hint very much. For me that was more of a result of game engine limitation.
But kids or not, Asgore murdering those humans was not right.
Even though, i still like him as a character. :3

That's possible too xD
I guess it's up to interpretation!

yea, the game leaves quite some things for us to make our own conclusions ;)

Poor Asgore - I can't help but feel sorry for him, no matter the harm he did...I MEAN LOOK AT THOSE EYES. This makes me feel so sad omg ;A;

A very tragic dad indeed :c

So much regret of his mistakes, but unable to go back so far in.

He tried to set it back as much as he could though - which was both good and bad on their own (in my opinion at least). This game....
Why does it have to make you like the characters so much

The way I see it, he soon realized that what he was doing was wrong, but since it was now what he was "supposed" to do, and not wanting to look like someone who goes back on his words (an indecisive king wouldn't sound all that good, mostly when it's about war), he kept doing as he said he would.

I think that's why, in the neutral route, he decides to let the human win. Since he's got pride as a king, letting the human win means the humans are still the bad guys, and he died a hero. Which in itself isn't good. And the true pacifist route really is the only one in which he has a chance of redeeming himself.

But still, I can't dislike him ahhh...  Like.. it all began due to a misunderstanding, and he was heartbroken and didn't react in a reasonable way, then got trapped into it and couldn't just go and say "This was all a mistake it's not worth it" and he's just... such a sad character

Hmm this might be a long answer...
I think that he really didn't want to break the barrier because he knew that monsters would lose if they waged war against them again. When he said he would, however, it was because he was heartbroken like you said. Two kids gone and now his wife, who left him because even after the first kid he wouldn't make up his mind, and as Toriel said, he preferred to sit and wait that no other human came, rather than take the human soul he had after the first human fell (after the Asriel's death), cross the barrier, take another 6 souls and go free. In my mind, I see it as he was trying to protect both sides, monsters and humans by not breaking it like that - Once they were free, monsters would probably force Asgore to kill even more people, which would go against what his wife believed in which hurt him even more. AHHH I'm just trying to see a good side on the guy, excuse me.

Heck, we don't even know if all the other humans got to meet him...

Perhaps your view of him is right! Trying to cover his mistake/insecurity by letting you win.... But then again, he does seem convinced for a moment that things could be ok... Go back to be a happy family, sit near the fireplace...... Yet, there's a certain ending where just after that line, he says that it is just a dream and also wrong, because it just wouldn't be possible, and kills himself - like.... UUUGHHH I DON'T CARE IF HE TRULY WAS BAD, THAT THING MAKES ME SO SAD! He's STILL sacrificing himself so you can go. He accepts his mistake, his flaws, and just gives you his soul after all

And it isn't just him - Let's not forget his son. He was, probably, the hero in more ways than one.

I just love how deep the characters are ahhhh
Like none of them are truly good or bad
The only 100% bad character in the game is actually the player, depending on their choice.

Darn genocide route... I regret all of it

I watched someone play it at first
and I'm playing it now
But skipping all the dialogue so I don't feel as horrible 8D;; and I have the thing ready to do a full reset afterwards
SmallObsession

I played it almost fully myself - never saw someone else playing it so I had the full effect myself of being a terrible murderous monster ;A; - HOWEVER, I knew since the very start that I wouldn't be able to go over Sans, so I got to his fight, battled him 4 times, and did a full reset, as in "You know what, sans, you're right..." - I did see the ending afterwards in a video though. Which makes me feel even more sad towards Asgore omg.

It might be bad but, I hope you have fun playing your Genocide Route omg
Because it is the most exhausting thing ever, to kill until it all reads "B U T  N O B O D Y  C A M E" on all zones. Especially on Hotlands/CORE (they count as a single area)

xD I'm having fun only because by skipping the dialogue it's like a different game
I wouldn't be able to go through with it otherwise
