He's a kangaroo... Born a her, 'Isabel' grew up knowing something wasn't right. His Mother believes it's just a phase. (Even if that's a 5 year long phase...)
He decided to call himself Xabel (Is abel) and identify as male.
Original character idea came from a sad occurrence in my life.
A good friend of mine committed suicide at 14, from having his family not accept him as he was.
Hopefully he is being treated better now, where ever he is.
... Guess this is a kind of tribute to him.
