Aristrocats

Well, I guess after moving to the City, I lost most of my old media. I used to have a collection of over 300 movies on my hard drive, and now I have less than 12 on my new hard drive. Anyway, what i used to do is watch a movie on my hard drive I never seen before, and then buy it on Blu-Ray or DVD if I really liked it.

Aristrocats was one of the first movies I downloaded with this new hard drive, after downloading all of the original 7 AMV Hell movies (1-5 and the 0 collection). I just finished it and I would like to do a mini-review on it.

At the end of the review, I will critique if it was a good enough movie to buy on Blu-Ray, or to delete the movie if I didn't like it at all (Before I moved to the city, there were a few movies I ended up not liking, such as Dumbo, Bambi, and Ben And Arthur, which I deleted from my hard drive to tried and "forget" about the movie, XD).

Aristrocats features a family of cats that get lost from their home and need to find a way back. This movie sounds simple, but it really surprised me. Within the first few minutes of the movie, we already had a villain who was named and shown, but Disney showed it in an intelligent way that I didn't expect. It was literally what I would call a "twist exposition", if you so will. Anyway, from there on out, all of the characters were very well-rounded and the storyline was interesting. I thought it would be more predictable, but I was completely wrong. Alot of adult jokes were thrown in here that took me by surprise. One of my favorite scenes with the adult jokes is the scene with the goose uncle, who was drunk. However, Disney never sated directly that he was drunk, and the characters kept referencing the shop he was almost killed at in an "Alouette" style (that song is brutal; it is actually is about a butcher killing a duck/goose to make food) to mask the terminology of being intoxicated. My biggest gripe with the movie's humour is it's overuse of slapstick comedy, which was always a turn-off of mine when it comes to comedy, since I prefer more innuendos and black humor in my comedy.

The characters were also very well animated, except for one scene where the cats are walking into the distance with the geese. The lines on the animation looked superimposed because of how roughly drawn the characters looked at that point. It's the only part in the entire movie that looks like that. The animation on the characters is also on point outside of that scene. Because of my sexual infatuation for anything feetpaws, I know for a fact that if I didn't masturbate earlier in the day, my dick would be really hard while watching Aristocats. The animation was fluid and mocked the physics of what you would expect if the character was in real life. It's one of the reasons that even though 2D animation is very expensive in a large corporation, it still is one of the best ways to present your production. I always feel like the physics in 2D animation is handled with more care and gives more fluidity to how you would expect things to move as an audience. There some exceptions to this rule (*cough* Zootopia *cough*), but for the most part, I feel like 2D animation is more fluid.

On top of that, I always rate media based on it's music and sound qualities. In the case of films, I usually rate such as quality of recording (I hate the sound of when people are talking in media and their voice sounds like an echo, like they are recording in a large room from across the way) and if the music was any good or memorable. Aristrocats had good music, but some of it was stock comedy music, which really hurt the overall presentation in my eyes, and some of the music was either drawn out or repetitive. A good example for me is "Everybody Wants To Be A Cat". It got on my nerves because it was to drawn out and was sung at least twice within a couple adjacent scenes in the movie.

The sound recording was actually pretty good, but it wasn't amazing. As someone who took French for three years in High School, I could tell which actor knew French and which did not. Also, the random Italian guy didn't sound Italian at all, and the accent of the main character, Dutchess, doesn't exactly feel like French, even though it was supposed to.

Also, O'Malley. Furries, please get to work on drawing more porn of that narcissistic alley cat. When I first saw him on the screen, I was aghast at how much his looks peaked my sexual interest.

For all it's minor flaws, it still makes for an entertaining, hilarious, sexy, and wonderful movie. I highly recommend checking it out if you have not already, and I will be buying the movie on Blu-Ray in the future.

Keep an eye out for more reviews from me in the future. I kinda want to do more reviews like this.
