yup, seems that there are people out there who don't like us 3D artists, for whatever reason...i was told basically that because i didn't start my images from the ground up (blank screen, then use boxes n spheres to create my own characters, hair, props, etc, then color and texture them myself) that i'm not a true 3D artist...i just take the base models, dress them, color them, pose them, and render them...but guess what? it's so much more than that...
for example, i also start with a blank screen, then have to figure out how to go from there...do i wanna do a cutesy pic, with plushies that u just wanna squish? do i do furry or human characters? do i do an erotic pic, with a char in provocative clothing (or no clothing) and a suggestive pose? do i do a scenic pic, with flowers n trees n stuff like that, with no characters in it? do i do a pic for myself, or for a friend?
once i have an idea of how i want it to look, then i go thru my mental list of characters...younger or older? my fursona or someone else's?
once i open up the model i wanna use, i have to figure out textures...ok so i'm doin a furry pic...tiger, wolf, bear? or do i create my own textures to make my model look like a friend's fursona or one of their characters?
once i have my model textured, i have to morph him/her...older or younger? heavy set, skinny, or somewhere in between? for the furry characters, i have to morph the face and tail to look like that animal...if i'm doing someone else's character this could take me awhile...if i'm doing one of my own creation it doesn't take as long...
once i have my model morphed the way i want, then i have to figure out how he/she is gonna be dressed...sexy? funny? make a statement?
once i have him/her dressed, i have to pick hair...long or short? what color?
ok, now we have a model up on the screen that is standing in a basic pose, textured, morphed, dressed, and with hair...what kinda pose do we want? how is he/she dressed? pin up style, or something classy?
ok, the model is all created and posed the way i want...do i add a background in Poser/DAZ|Studio, or leave it blank and create something in Paintshop Pro? If i create my own in PSP, do i draw one or use a photo of mine...
this whole process could take as little as half an hour or as long as 2 hours...it all depends...once i have a character the way i want, i save it off, to be used later...later i can open it up, change the pose/clothes/hair, and create a new scene...
and u thought all i did was open the character, dress it, render it, and post it as my own work...
