I usually keep politics out of my journal. I find it leads to trouble, since I hold extremely liberal political opinions, and I also HATE arguing with people.
However, I HAVE to comment on the Supreme Court's decision today.
Thank you. Thank you for doing the RIGHT thing for once. The Defense of Marriage Act is no more, and now all Americans share the same benefits under marriage, heterosexual or gay. Despite what the Religious Right and theocrats want you to believe, ALL people should have the same rights under the American Constitution. All people are created equal.
The Defense of Marriage Act and all gay-discriminating laws have made homosexuals second-class citizens. If it was up to the Republicans, homosexuals wouldn't just be not allowed to marry, but they would be burned at the stake. This is a win for all Americans today, and it should be celebrated in the streets.
I beg all my watchers to write their senators and congressmen and urge them to do the right thing. Equal rights for all, or no rights for anyone.
PS: I will not tolerate flames, anti-Obama/Democrat/Liberal comments, off-topic comments, or other assorted idiocy in my journal comments. Stay on topic and stay civil. Offending comments will be deleted.
I may not be gay, but I do believe that two men have as much right to marry as a man and woman. just because people think it is sacred for only a man and woman should marry doesn't necessary mean it is right. look at the prejudge against women for starters. women had no rights in history. traded like live stock on a daily bases. or how about the discrimination on white and black people. when I look in history and see what the they had to suffer against, turns my stomach. the witch hunts. and people thought it was fine to do this because they thought it was right. there was no law to outlaw it because people thought selling there daughters/sons were in there right. or going to a village in another country and kidnap innocent people to sell off. this was law and peoples right to do. or if you don't like someone and things didn't go your way, just frame him/her for putting a spell on you. or jinxing the town. there is many more example's but i'll just stick with these. I personally hate a person by deed, not by look, gender, age, color, ect. discrimination against the gay population will one day be seen as act of selfish and ignorant minds by the masses. just as many others have suffered because of there gender, the color of there skin, or what country they are from. unfortunately these problems are not dead in society as of yet, but with time and perseverance it will be a faded memory. if history has taught us any thing is that good things will come with suffering. not by chilling and taking it easy. we have more than thousands or years of history to prove it so. anyway if any one of the gay community is reading this: this is may only be one step but I hope the best for you all.

First of all don't stereotype republicans. I am republican yet I believe in marriage equality as well. That's it. Goodbye. Also I am an atheist who believes that religion in general is dangerous and would want to live in a world with no religion whatsoever. Did I mention that I am a republican. That's my rant goodbye for real now.
