Maybe. Originally, this was just open to people on FA, but given the circumstances since the last time I did this... I figure it's fair to open it to everyone. Especially since both IB and SF have APIs to help with the coding end of things (no need to be tricky like with FA!)
Basically, this contest is run as a "tricky tray" (aka chinese auction aka penny social aka pick-a-prize). The idea is to present several categories of prizes... sketches, icons, etc. For each category, you get a number of tickets... you can then use these tickets to bid on any of the prizes assigned to it. You get the choice to pile them all up on one prize, spread them out, or not use them at all.
You can see an example of the site I used for the last prize over here (just note that you can't win anything there! It's 6 months old!)
Last time, I ran it for free... well, free for all you guys. It cost me a lot. Since people want to do it again, I need to figure out a way to offset the costs of commissioning several artists to make the prizes. There are two ways to do this: first, get people to donate prizes (their own art or that of another artist). Second, try to get people to donate.
The first part is easy, a whole bunch of people donated their works last time around (as an incentive, you get extra tickets for helping out!). Second... not so much. I've been working on figuring several things out to make that work... first, they would be donations. No one is actually buying anything. As thanks, there will probably be "donator only" prizes and/or extra tickets. We'll see.
