There's something about the digital age that's changed birthdays. Now on your birthday your social media page will be filled with people saying "happy birthday". While some consider this a shallow gesture, I don't. It might be a surprise given my attitude about most holidays. Don't get me wrong, I find birthdays just as pointless as New Year's Eve. It's fun but ultimately just means you'll need to change a number when referring to something about time now and then.
But I don't think being electronic makes a sentiment shallow.
So thank you to everyone that wished me a happy birthday yesterday. Also if you happen to have missed it and want to share the sentiment today, thank you as well. I don't mind late messages. They're just as special to me.
