When we think of our lives we can compare ourselves to a string made of fragile threads, but woven together with real friends and family, we make a beautiful tapestry, that will not only endure through rough times, but that will strengthen as our bonds continue to grow with each other.
Our lives are in no way about ourselves and ourselves only. What good is a light if it is too dim to brighten the darkness? What good is a life that doesn't bring any positive change or growth to anyone else's?
A real friend can tell when something isn't right in your life, even when you refuse to let it be known, a real friend will be able to tell when your "light" is dim. Be a friend and be there for those who are in pain, be there for those who are in need, and you will always have someone there for you when you experience pain as well.
Friendship is a very simple word, very commonly used. The word friend is almost used on a daily basis. Yet, the depth and meaning of friendship certainly go beyond the simple and the common.
True friends are very hard to come by, but when you recognize someone as being a true friend then you should do you best to hold on to them. Just because someone has been in your life for a long amount of time does not necessarily mean that they are a true friend. Someone who is accepting of your past and that believes in your future will create a positive presence in your life. A true friend will never try to change you because they will love the real you, unless they notice that you aren't acting as yourself.
A true friend will never be envious of your accomplishments, and will never try to copy your style, which is also an indication of envy. A true friend will be there for you through thick and thin, even when they know that you are wrong, they will stick with you until you are able to make things right. A true friend will push you towards greatness, and not pull you away from it. Most of all a true friend will love you unconditionally, with no strings attached. Who are your true friends?
