I am a nervous wreck right now...

by
For a very good reason, I have been on pins and needles after doing something yesterday that I had no plans on doing for another two months. On my way home from work, something kept telling me to stop at a certain car dealership, gently at first and becoming more insistent the nearer I got to said dealership. I pulled into the lot and got to talking to one of the salesmen at the car lot. We got to talking about what I was looking for in a car, size, power, features, etc. before leading me to a floor display of a 2014 Impala, I explained as I was looking over the car, checking it out to see it did fit my needs, that I was looking for something current that was a bare-bones machine with the basics on the dash. I was shown a few models that met my needs and found two that I started the paperwork on to get financing approval for...

A White 2012 Malibu (4 cylinder engine with 250hp) fully loaded at $21,500.00 including TT&L after a $3750.00 rebate which will most likely be used for the down (nearly 100% certain) and a Cobalt Blue Malibu for $2000.00 more (6 Cylinder engine with 270hp, blue-tooth connectivity, chrome wheels).

I should know whether or not I get approved for financing on a new car by Monday. Yes I am scared but at the same time excited, I am doing something that I am not ready for at the moment, but should I get the car, I will be able to start pulling mega OT at the new job in a couple of weeks getting the assembly lines ramped up for the new product to be started on 05/01.

I know, and you know first hand what car I was driving at TFF, so this would be a huge step up in reliability and in getting more hours at work.

I own the 2006 Malibu MAXX with the V6 and six speed auto tranny, and I love this car, Heated leather seats, Two moon roofs in the rear, power locks and windows and so much more, we get about 28 MPG all around driving. It is a great car. We even have the remote start, and if you live where its gets cold heated seats and remote start are a big deal.

Nah, Live in the Dallas/Ft Worth area, but the car does have push button ignition

Well for you then the remote start would be great for cooling the car before getting in after work. and I highly suggest the V6 over the four. when getting on a highways its best to have that little bit more power and its sounds so much better :D

But as I said, its is a great car.

Know how you feel, I just got a Ford Focus, 'cause my old car died.  I'll be broke for a few years but this car will last me at least a decade.

I'm sorry that you got a Focus, truly I am. That is what my roommate has and that car is one of the biggest pieces of shit that has came out of the Ford stables. But you are looking at a car that seems to love power steering pumps not to mention alternators. After about a year or two the doors won't be so easy to close (we have to slam them), the seals around the windows leak, the engine mounts aren't the best. Right now, that car is my main source of transportation until I can get a new beast for myself.

Well I'll wait and see on that.  My dad the car guy suggested it and he's never been wrong.  With the exception of the car that got hit by a woman driving without a license, every car he's suggested to me has lasted at least a decade.

i have no clue about cars, but just thinking about this has me stressed.  I always feel like i'm trying to be taken advantage of when in a place like a dealership.

You aren't that far off the mark. As long as you are aware of what's going you should be ok

Just don't get in over your head. Car payments kill your 'fun funds'.

Shokuji has a good point and here another, check with your Ins company and find out what it will cost you. I have see Ins jump up 500% just because of financing.

I can honestly say that the AC will be the one thing that will very little use. Hopefully I will hear something about the car today.
