X-com furry journal addition

Well some thoughts since I'm enjoying myself

Who here would like to join x-com under me?

When I buy my own copy I will start a new campaign and name my soldiers after those furs interested.   I'll then provide a weekly tally board updating everyone status in game.   To be fair everyone gets named as rookies and get classed up accordingly.  I'll even do bit of naughty story time about the crews bacb at barracks every week.   So you guys in?

Eh :p If your experience is anything like mine, the only ones who survive long enough to make it to Colonel without crippling injury will be your snipers who stay 50 miles away from the enemy :p

Ohhh well maybe when I play through again on a harder difficulty level  but my current squad is all Colonels

Hah, eh. It's some bad luck involved. And that STUPID teleporting mechanic they use to calculate movement of enemies not in line of sight.

I recall one match, had my guys spread out in a staggered line with wide line of sight. I ended the turn moving my sniper out of cover from behind a tall tree to another bit of cover closer to the crashed ship. Apparently the AI decides I'm taking too long to find the enemy and randomly teleports them around the map to help me end up coming across them, because gods forbid you move slowly and carefully to not draw 50 enemies into a fight in one turn.

Anyway. Understand. My guys, spread out in a line. Wide line of overlapping sight on all sides. Except that tree my sniper was hiding behind. Since he moved up, there was a narrow strip of shadow going back to the direction we already came from, 1 block width. This shadow was technically out of Line of sight and considered fog of war.

So what does the AI do? Spawns THREE squads of enemies there. Doesn't matter there is NO possible way to reach that damn spot without running into line of sight of any of my other 6 guys. It doesn't matter the tree is bloody SURROUNDED, or in an area we ALREADY CLEARED OUT. Nope. 2 squads of 2 heavy mutons and 3 heavy floaters, pop out BEHIND my guys, automatic flanked, and position themselves to royally fuck me next turn. Because I didn't take into account they have Mr Sulu's tractor beam and can effectively negate all fucking cover.

The harder difficulties are basically this experience, but now they often 1 hit kill your team too.
