For the past week or so, I've been feeling under the weather. I wake up weak, shaky, with a queasy stomach, and an extreme urge to vomit. At first I thought it was my blood sugar being either too low or too high, but when I checked it, my glucose was normal. So, I made an appointment with my doctor to find out what was wrong with me.
Seems I've got a stomach flu virus that's been floating around town for the past few weeks. I've been ordered onto a special diet for the next week. For today and tomorrow I get nothing but clear liquids - primarily Gatorade, water, and broth. For a week afterwards I've restricted to a "brat" diet of rice, applesauce, toast, baby food, and bananas. Since I'm allergic to bananas (their almost chemically identical to ragweed), and I'm not touching baby food, my dietary options are rather limited. Thankfully I haven't contracted the other type of flu; there's no telling how much suffering I would be in considering the severity of this year's flu season...
