First of all, I'd like thank everyone that's reading my stuff. It means a LOT to me. I squee as I watch favorite and comment counts go up on new submissions. I've been known to check how a story is doing at red lights. So thank you. It means a lot to me that people are enjoying my stuff.
I've been thinking for a long time regarding my prices. Now, many people say "Your prices should be such that writing someone a story is worth your time!" Well, unlike many artists, I am blessed with a fantastic day job. If I insisted that my commissioners value my hours as much as my employer does, I'd never get another commission. But writing, regardless, is hard work, and I think I deserve to get paid at least minimum wage. At my current rates, I am falling far short of that. My new prices are as follows:
Writing: $8 per 1,000 words $10 No-Publish Fee
Mentorship: $12 per hour
Mentorship is a new service I've added for two reasons: 1) There's no way I could make my "editing" service worth MY time *and* YOUR money, and 2) I have had people ask me about things like this, so I might as well put a price on it. Find out more about this service on my updated Commission Guide.
All current obligations will be met at the agreed upon rate. Pending/unpaid/unagreed upon commissions will be at the new rate.
Please feel free to comment about what an insane, worthless hack I am in the comments!
Is this actually a new price? Or did you just update your old pricing journal to match? (If so that's probably a good idea anyway).
Anyways, point is, you're still offering 5,000-word stories (and amazing ones, at that) for less thank a tank of gas. So I'm really not seeing anything to complain about here. Hope you continue to get awesome commissions from creative folks =)

My old prices were $5 per 1k, $5 no-pub fee. Updated the commission guide so there's no confusion. Removed editing as a service completely while I was at it. When "in the zone" I write at about 1,200 words per hour, so I'm essentially paying myself a wage of $9.60/hr compared to my previous wage of $6.00/hr.
Thanks for the words of support. And don't forget, the twins are always up for more adventures! Hehe
