Whitelisting period is over. I fixed the dreaded UTM box. The culprit: a StarTech USB Ethernet adaptor was not fully linux compatible. I read a user review on Newegg saying it was. The port read a connection was there and the speed of the connection. But no DHCP/DNS/ping information would go through to the firewall from the server or to the server from the firewall. I mistakenly thought that the really loose onboard MSI connector was bad, but I was wrong. So My SFTP server now has intrusion prevention, spyware filtering, spam filtering, ad filtering, attack blocking, malware blocking, and an additional antivirus. Problem solved.
