I used to be afraid of flying in airplanes. I'd think the plane would take a nosedive at 30,000 feet or the wings would fall off and the plane would just fall to the ground. I wouldn't say anything but had a death grip on the armrest for the entire duration of the flight. Then in High School I learned how to fly a plane and realized none of those things are even possible. So, I feel your pain even when the cliché "flying is the safest way to travel" really holds true.
