Smartphone Hotspot -plz read and ask around-

Ok so my home internet dies and I have to set my phone to tether the internet so I can do my normal thing on the internet but within 30mins i get sent to a page saying i need to pay for using the hotspot service...... ok?   Why the fuck do I need to pay extra for something like that?  They arent even the one suppling the hotspot, I am its my phone and Im just using my pc on it.  Also its not like I have an all you can eat buffet of bandwith speed, after 5gb my speed is cut to 2g speeds.   If they are so butt hurt and looking for money then they better try something more reasonable than tricking people that bought their service with unlimited bandwith with limited speeds of so and so gigs, seriously Im gonna use the same amount if I were on my phone just a lil faster and once i hit my 3g speed limit of 5gb it will be 2g (really slow)  I just want what I payed for unlimited internet which right now still costs 15$ more....... Im gonna bitch at them for this and get something going cuz this is bullshit.

Also service is tmoblie if i didnt mention it. :I

I only pay for 2g speeds from T-mobile to start with. But it's $2 a day that I use texts or data, and I use only wifi when I can. So it comes out dirt cheap.

My monthly bill is just 30$ 4g speeds (phone only can use 3g)  unlimited, 100mins talk and unlimited txt.  I use it pretty much all the time when in my truck but not so much at home...well until now since my ihome internet is down.

Still bugs me that they want 15$ just so I can use the internet on my pc. :I

Thx for replying. ^.=.^

$30?!? O.O how? http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/plans/individual-plans.aspx
The capped minute plan with unlimited low speed data is $70, which is actually more than I remember it being... but Verizon is the only carrier around here that has 4g towers. Everyone will still sell you the service, but it's not actually 4g in this area. x3

But $30 is a phone plan I can almost afford. My work is seasonal and "on call" so I can't afford to get tied into a monthly plan at their listed prices.

Have you looked at an app called Fox-fi ? I dunno if it works. A coworker mentioned it.

EDIT: Weird, if I log in to the site, the rates get cheaper. But even the most expensive plan only provides up to 5gb of up to 4g speeds before it throttles back to 2g.

It's a walmart promotional deal,  i bought my phone from them and as long as I keep paying I keep the 30$ a month service.

I will give fox-fi a look when I'm waiting outside work.  Also I can get unlimited 4g, no throttling for only 80$, oh and t-mobile has 4g towers in my area. >.>  80+15= 95$  So that would give me the ability to share and have unlimited 4g, would be worth it if I had 3-4 people to share it with XD

x3 I just got a Verizon branded Samsung Galaxy Nexus on ebay for $155 this morning. Should be close to the same daily prepaid rates, but I'll get a better signal and the phone won't write-protect or corrupt my SD card like my current one does (because that phone has 32gb on onboard storage). I bought the T-mobile phone from walmart, but I used a regular T-mobile SIM in it to use the prepaid option (because if I have absolutely no work for 2 or 3 weeks, it gives me the option to not put any money on my phone for a while). But cool that you found what you were looking for. :3 ...kinda ouch that it's $80 though. :/ I'll stick with low speed for now.

Aah. Well if that app doesn't help, the next viable option for free tethering is rooting your phone. And it's not something I would be motivated to do. x3~ But even that won't make unlimited data cheaper.

NIce. :3 I'm trying to think of a use for this T-mobile phone now. I don't wanna let it collect dust on a shelf. It has better hardware than some of the computers in my house, but without the ability to retain SD data, it wouldn't even make a useful mp3 player.
