That Book! [MLP FiM Season 3 Spoilers]

Some thoughts about the new episode.  This will have spoilers in case you haven't seen the episode.  I know lots of bronies out there don't get Hub and watch on YooToob.  Lalalala!  No spoilers yet!

Anyway, the two-part season opener wasn't too bad.  It was moving in places and the songs were great.  They had been leaked in advance but still nice to see them again.  Twilight brilliantly got herself stuck in a trap and had to make a difficult decision?  Not too bad.

The thing with the test was just annoying.  A test?  What?  Why can't Celestia and Luna kick King Sombrero's flank again?  It's never explained.  That's something I'd be very reluctant to leave unexplained in a fic.  Twilight searching for the heart does make sense at least.  I'm kind of hoping the whole test aspect is explained in some way during the rest of the season.  Which brings me to the book.  You know, the book Luna apports at the end of the episode.  So Twilight is going on to the next phase of her training.  She's passed the test.  Then Luna pops out that book.

Will Celestia be continuing her education?  Or will it be Luna?  Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I'm looking forward to Twilight (maybe) being taught by Luna.  It would be great just to see more Luna.

Also of course some Great and Powerful action.

I was wondering the same thing about the book. I think I know some things to expect in later episodes.

Meh,I wasn't really impressed with it,but then,I wasn't very impressed with the whole Discord thing either and still enjoyed most of season 2,so I'm not worried yet about the new season.

The BOOK! Necronomicon Ex Ponus! The book of the pony! Bound in horse hide and inked in generation 3.5,this book contains dark rituals,demon resurrections,and one heck of a muffin recipe. I think the book is part of some final challenge for Twilight Sparkle. Something she's being trained to handle. That's why this was a "test". If she couldn't take out King Somber,she wouldn't be able to handle the big challenge ahead of her.

And the reason the sisters couldn't take King Somber again is because before they had the elements of harmony. They're powerful,but the elements were key to their past victories over Discord and King Somber. Celestia even needed them to beat Nightmare Moon,which she couldn't do later when she returned. So,yeah.

Don't forget about the potential leak out of the European licensing group: One of their banners at a trade show had Twilight as an alicorn.

If this leak pays off, (and it wouldn't be the first one from them that has), we could have a very good reason for Twilight being tested and having her training move on to a higher level. Twilight ascending would make for a good capstone for either the series finale or for a shift in focus characters.

I have to wonder if Trixie has some connection to this too since she's wearing an 'Alicorn Amulet' in the leaked image. I'm guessing there will be some really significant changes by the end of this season.

There was a teaser that ended up mentioning that a fairly strong segment of this season will be "Twilight's true purpose in life."

well one thing i learned from this ep, celestia sucks at banishing ppl xD and omg yes! luna as twi new teacher? awesome :3

and i think the bad guy is still alive since trixie has that necklace with king GAK...i mean king somber colors on it. spoilers: is how trixie beats twi in that ep where she returns.

I'd love it if Somber gets some screen time wth Trixie. You really don't get to see him much at all in this premier. He could be so interesting. Most of all, more Trixie! Luna too.

Was wondering about that book myself at the end of the ep, hope Luna gets a chance to tutor Twilight some if that's the case with this season. =)

Would make sense. Celestia taught her very well, but there may be some things only Luna can teach her.

After watching the season opener I went to Wikipedia to check out the episode synopses for the season. Sounds like decent enough stuff, nothing earth shattering.

There is an ep where Trixie comes back and beats Twilight in a magic contest though. That'll be interesting to see. I guess she's been training in the mountains for two years or something. XD
